Cyclocross frame fit

How should cyclocross bikes be sized for fit-- with frame clearance on standover similar to a mountain bike, or similar to a road bike?

I was told by LBS one size down from my road frame size (e.g. 57cm from 59cm). Seems to be about right based on the Poprad I bought.

Adam was a GOOD cyclocross rider just missing the necessary superior physical attributes to become a national champion. He knows the game as well or better than anyone else in the world. Listen when he speaks.

And ignore the way he looks. Those tatoos and earrings are like so 90's.

Also: I've tried small cyclocross bikes grading up to about the same size as my road bike and Adam is right on about size.

If you have a current road bike that fits you well, you would be in the ballpark to get a cross bike that has an equivalent length TT or slightly less. The ST on a cross bike will generally be shorter because of the higher BB and that is why people get confused on sizing. On top of that, in cross racing you benefit from being a little more upright than on a road racing bike. I kept the same TT length on mine but went for a 1 cm shorter stem and I am happy with the fit.
