anyone have any info on the miyata team titanium bikes? any issues w/ the lugged frame? when were these produced? thanks everyone!

Hi Oger,
I do have the mountain version. Never heard of issues with them, but there are not so many. Do have many Miyatas built with the same lug/bond system, but using another material tubing. Never had issues with unbonding.
They are early nineties.

A Team Titianium will be circa 1991. I have never known anyone who's experienced a problem with Miyata's APA bonding.

No, it is Miyata's own fork. It is like this, but with aluminium blades:

The Koga on the big pic in the 2nd post is of the 1993 year and has a monostay. Earlier ones had stays that bolted onto the seatlug.

thanks! i found a frame w/ lugs and hoz. dropouts and miyate red fork , i was thinking of a ti fixed gear. just never saw a ti built like the old steel frames I like. thanks to all!

I have a Miyata Ti6000, early 90's, that broke in the lower head bond. I also have friend that ownes the carbon version and his broke at the bottombracket/seat tube joint. I drilled and bolted mine together and it works OK. Some pictures in the link below:

Bad luck Jonathan. If it holds up really well now I must say you did a great job!
Had issues with several carbon ones, always at the BB. I blame the 0.7mm alu tube, as the carbolite tubes are in fact carbon wrapped alu tubes. Common technique back in the day.
Personally never experienced unbonding with one of the about 15 I owned over the years, but yes I do know it excists. Of course it does, little numbers though.
