so i need new brakes. what do ya'll think about the hope mono mini? i ride xc to aggressive xc and weigh around 165 lbs. are hydraulic brakes necesary? will they make a noticable difference? should i just upgrade my mechanical discs to some BB7s since pricepoint is having such great deals? thanks a lot for everyone input! go ski, it's winter!

hmm, AMB has written bout hydro brakes during the past months, I believe it states that Hope Mono Mini gives you the juice for XC. While Avid Juicy's give you juice for everything XC - Downhill

Go for bb7 superb stopping power and less expensive

Hydros should weight lighter then mechanical because hydros has less components in it

Hydo brakes are AWESOME! Hope minis are GREAT brakes, but are harder to find and probably more $$ than Avid's. I run the hope minis(becuase I bought the bike that way, lucky me:p ), but if I had to buy the brakes separately, I'd prolly run Avid BB7's, they are going cheap right now and they work great!(but heavier than Hopes if youre a WW!)

yeah, but I love the looks of Magura Levers, Love Hope's new brake rotors though :D
