Anyone use either of these wheels? I'm building up a cross for commuting on trails (dirt & asphalt).

The Mavic Crossmax SLR's are unrealistic so I've been looking at these.

Mavic Crossmax ST disc, 1649 grams
Mavic Crosstrail disc, 1810 grams

Are these beefy enough or should I select my favorite hub and build up a CXP33 black 32 hole.

or any other ideas?

Thanks!

I use the enduro for rim brakes on my commuter and have a few comments.

First, these are 26" wheels. I assume you know that, but I thought the CXP33 was a 700c wheel.
Second...strength is great. I'm 230, + 30 lb bike + 30 lbs of stuff + horrible potholed roads w/ a bit of x-country on my route to work. Not a peep out of the wheels.
Lastly...if you aren't planning to use UST tires I'd look elsewhere. They say they work with clinchers, but man, either I'm incompetent when it comes to bead seating with only this pair of wheels or there is something fishy about the way they accept clinchers.

Happy shopping.

Yes, I'd planned on using UST tires with the crossmax rims. However, I didn't realize that the ST or SL's were 26"! I've been looking at Speedgoat and they don't list the size on the description. I see the enduro's have a size listed. I'll check them out as well. I'll have to enter that into the equation.

The reason I'd thought about the CXP's is due to their durability. I have a pair w/ about 10K miles on them w/o any truing required. Seem to be bombproof on my road bike.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

CXP 33's are for a road bike. They are very good! Mine have a weird lacing but they are light and strong. I was told they might be uncomfortable but I find I could go with an even stiffer rim.

As for the Crossmax, yes, they are 26 inch.

I kept trying to find some on Ebay but they were 400 bucks and up, understandably perhaps.

So I bought some XTR hubbed wheels, with Bontrager rims and DT Swiss Revolution spokes. Pretty hard to beat that as an alternative to the Crossmax. And i) any bikeshop can fix them, plus ii) you don't need to buy and carry weird bladed spokes everywhere you go.
