Bicycle Mechanics - Stripped hex screw head. Now I can't get my pedals off!

I have a Raceface Evolve DH crankset with Truvative Holzfeller pedals. I was having a squeaking issue with my left pedal and wanted to take it off to take a look and possibly lubricate it. Well, I was attempting to find the right size hex key and accidentally stripped it by choosing the wrong size, and now I cannot get the pedal off. I need help on how to somehow get it out.

There aren't flats on the spindle for a 15mm wrench? Not familiar with those pedals.

use a pedal wrench or choose an allen one size bigger and a hammer. tap the allen into the pedal until it is snug. rember that your left side pedal is a left hand thread. turn left to tighten and right to loosen.

I tried before and it does not fit. There is not enough area for the wrench to even get down to take it off. I read up a little about how to take them off and found that you need a hex key. Unfortunately, I stripped it :p

Well it turns out there were two hex keys in the pedal. One to remove it, and one that I guess removes the bearings of the pedal or something. That was the one that I believe I stripped. Chances are I will not ever remove that, and if I need to, I'll take it to a mechanic so he can look at it if there's ever a problem in there.

I used a much larger hex key which fix perfectly, and turned it to the left to remove the pedal (no idea why it worked when I turned it to the left, but it tightened it when I moved it to the right). A little cleaning removed the insanely loud squeak in it :p

Very good. You might never need to service the bearings, with any luck.

I notice that a lot of newer pedals are made without flats for a pedal wrench. Seems kind of stupid to me.
