Bicycle Mechanics - Cantilever brake pivot posts
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I believe this is the term for the item for which I am looking. It threads into the brake boss on the fork and the cantilever is then attached with an allen bolt.
Could someone tell me where I might be able to buy these online? No luck at Nashbar, Performance, Jenson, etc. I am also wondering if there are many different types. I have one that fits the fork and need a second to match.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you need to find them online? Your LBS probably stocks them. Maybe Harris stocks them.

I know a store about 40 mi away stocks them. I called my LBS to find out if they had any around and they claim to not "stock that kind of thing in the winter " when they are selling ski/snowboard stuff. I find it hard to believe they don't have a bin of the things sitting around but, I am reluctant to ride down there to find out when they were of so little help on the phone.

Try "Loose Screws" for an online source.
Those pivot posts aren't a real common replacement item so an LBS having the one that you need might be iffy. Your best bet might be a BMX oriented shop. Incidentally, there are several different ones so you have to find the one with the right diameter and threads to fit your frame.
