Road Cycling - son's first bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My 16 year old son expressed an interest in cycling so I purchased a Raleigh R400. Decent entry level bike. We did 14 miles for his first ride and averaged 13.5 mph. Not too bad for a first ride. Hopefully he will become addicted and I can give him my bike thus creating the need for me to get one as well. It was alot of fun and I really think he enjoyed it as well.

He already has a truck.....1990 Ford 150. He is not one who has to constantly be going somewhere. Went by himself today. We are going tomorrow.

I am sorry, it's so unusual to read your p ost Mrs. Duffy, but what if your son will express the interest in helicopter flying, will he get the latest model next day? :)
Not using that big pick up will definetely save gas, how "chi" always says :p :D
Peace
Inoplanetyanin, are those glasses of ignorance?
Hey Duff, I think he wants a bike too! :p
FYI I am his father not mother. He expressed this interest last fall and had to earn this bike by working at home. It took almost six months for me to feel he had "earned " the bike. By the way he wishes to be an officer in the US Army and flying helos is one of the career choices he is contemplating. Hope this helps!
