For your DH, DW, SO, girlfriend, boyfriend, Mom, Pop, kids, one-time ride partner...
Spill it, unless any of the above people frequent the boards, then use this thread to throw them off the scent. Also, for those who are struggling for ideas, fess up.
Doesn't have to be cycling related...at all.

Marcellus keeps asking for a weiner dog...everyday...at least ten times a day. I'm not ready for the responsibility of puppy parenthood, so I'm thinking...no! Avery is getting a digital camera since she's been asking for one. I'm keeping the gifts for the kids to a minimum this year (and I say this every year and don't follow through...lol) because they get SO MUCH from family, that it's overwhelming and none of it ever gets used.

My wife usually wants cash. That's fine by me due to the no hassle factor. I usually do the same with my other close family members. I don't enjoy the pressure of have to shop during the holidays. Gift cards are also simple. :)

My wife wants a cheap-o charm bracelet with the boys' initials as the charms. So I found this, since I will not put a cheap-o bracelet on my wife's wrist:

I'm getting my, uh, an, um.
I've got nothing.
I have no clue what I'm getting anyone. Gotta shop for mom, dad, grandmother, and three sisters.
Two of the sisters have nice earrings coming their way soon (shh... it's a secret) but those are for no particular occasion. Though I'm a bit tempted to just get them the earrings for Christmas since it saves me the trouble of coming up with another gift. (The other sister will be okay with it since she already got her earrings.)
My sisters have asked me what I want for Christmas. I have no clue. My parents might ask. I'll tell them I want a laptop (which they already promised for my birthday but which I haven't picked out yet).

This is really why I started this thread, so I can show off. You can get into real trouble in Tiffany's.

Well the wife wants some new shocks for her 4Runner, a bottle of Eternity and a pair of shoes. She knows about all that but I think she also needs some diamonds. She loves diamonds, and I love what happens when she gets diamonds.;) The kids, both in there 20's want money, suprise suprise. And for myself, so far a new Fox fork for the yeti, a new lap top, 2 pairs of sweats and a new pair of shoes. :D

All my family members are in Canada. Shipping will be really, really expensive; very nice excuse, eh? Hehe. So instead, I'm just going to get a nice Xmas present for myself so as to comply with the Xmas spirit. I'm still deciding on what to get though; either a computer to upgrade my Pentium-3, or a frame+fork to upgrade my 40 lbs mtb. :p

Hey now...no apologizing. If you're coming down to the gutter, own it! :D
I stopped giving Christmas gifts some time ago... Christmas is no longer stressful for me. Now I make it a point to see my friends and family and just enjoy their company. The gift giving thing got too crazy for me.

I tried that. They'd rather have presents.

I stopped giving Christmas gifts some time ago... Christmas is no longer stressful for me. Now I make it a point to see my friends and family and just enjoy their company. The gift giving thing got too crazy for me.I can certainly relate to that. My wife's side of the family is huge and we traditionally used to get together on X'mas Eve for family fun and gift exchanging. The name calling of gifts usually took a couple of hours, just distributing them one at a time and opening them, mostly for the sake of the kids of these families. After several years of exchanging gifts among perhaps 3 dozen relatives at these gatherings, things started to get a bit too expensive as some of these families further grew in size (as in number of small children). Now we simply decline going to these huge family X'mas gatherings where most expect gifts. I prefer simple, quiet, no hassle holiday celebrations...:)

My usual Xmas tab normally runs into the $1k range. With 4 sisters + parents + 3 nieces + 1 nephew, things do get out of hand. My family do exchange gifts, and it's quite fully meshed too... 1/3 of our living room gets filled with presents, all laid out on the floor "under" the Xmas tree.
This year will be my first year not going home for Xmas... and with that I'm not sure how I can get any presents to them. I hope my nieces and nephew won't hate me. :p
I think I lost the gift giving thrill when one Christmas visiting my sister, who at the time had 3 small children, we spent the entire night wrapping presents. It was almost sinful how many presents there were under the tree for the kids. The next morning there as a gift unwrapping frenzy - like sharks attacking bait - and when it was done the oldest threw a fit because there weren't more presents.
The whole giving presents because it is expected is just wrong. Christmas is a very important time of year for me and I want to enjoy the celebration and beauty of the season. My friends have also embraced just enjoying the company thing, no gifts. So much nicer than running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to figure out what someone wants and usually don't need.
It's not that I don't give gifts, I enjoy the act of giving a gift, but now I do it when it means most, in appreciation of someone's kindness or friendship because it's deserved and not because its expected. I often sit back and shake my head at young women who complain because their man didn't get the expensive diamond bracelet they wanted although that man is good and kind to them throughout the year. I rather have a good and kind man than a silly bracelet.
My soapbox... now I'm off. Merry Christmas you all!
Cali I need some of your Christmas smilies!
And if someone wants to give me a custom Ti bike, I would be very appreciative!!!!

We cut waaaaaaaayyyyy back on gift giving last year. We were spending too much on extended family and party exchange gifts. Now we're down to just buying for the kids, which is nice. Much less stressful. Haven't started shopping though. I think it might be done with one Amazon order this time around.

My mom is trying to convince me to get these bike shorts as a gag gift for my dad, but I keep telling her that she's not the one who has to ride with him because I can guarantee that he would wear these things :) Ew
Oh Heather...those are WRONG! Just WRONG!!!!

I already said congratulations on Sunday, so I'm not going to say it again.
;)
I got my little girl (10 years old) a lap top and some little things, like books and small play stuff. It might be to much, but it will stay in the house or truck and I want her to be computer literate.
I thougth about a desk top, but I don't want her to be cloistered in her room. This way she can still do stuff in the dinning room and living room where I can monitor her.
Merry Christmas!!!
PS. I might get some use out of it also, not much, but some.
