I have a pair of rubber "leather-look" bar covers I removed from a ca. 1978 Motobecane Mirage. They're in good shape. Anyone want them for a resto? They're yours for the price of postage....

They aren't perfect, but I'd rather see someone use them rather than pitch them in the landfill....

I have an 1984 Motobecane Grand Touring with the same handle bar covers. How did you take them off without damaging them? I'm thinking of getting a shorter stem and need to take them off.

I was looking at the bars on my Motobecane Super Mirage wondering how the heck to get off those rubber "unigrips". How did you do it? I must know! I would want to have to cut them...

I want to know also. The set on my Grand Jubile are still good but a prior owner cut off the hoods portion & replaced the hoods with black Dia Compe hoods. If I ever find a NOS set, I would like to know how to remove/install without damage. The untouched set on my other Moto looks like they were somehow molded around the bars & levers after the levers were mounted? Don

Seriously, I need to get those rubber monstrosities off!

Later today I will try the following: loosen the brake lever screws so they can move freely on the bars, lift a corner of the rubber bar covers near the stem, spray in a bit of WD-40 and try to work the things off with a screwdriver.
