Don't know if I fit your criteria, but 1000$ (never did a full tally on everything), not really stock trek 4300.

I just checked from memory, my bike costed me about 789$(without accounting for shipping+tax) not including the pedals, bb, and crankset, which I already had.

stock except accessories and I'm on the 2nd cassette/chain and the 3rd set of tires.. Found it on a huge sale $350. this is how I got hooked on biking. I was going to upgrade to a new $1000+ bike this year, but can't find one that I really like, I think I'm too used to this one.

What bike do you have cmktech?

cmktech
12-12-06, 08:45 PM
I currently do not have one. However, I am in the market for a bike. I have been looking at $2,000 bikes, but I realized I am having just as much fun on my dad's budget hardtail. (hence the inspirational thread I decided to make). His ride is a 2005 Trek 4500. It may not have the best components, but I like it. My previous bike was a Specialized Epic, but it didn't have enough travel for me and didn't suit me well. I don't like the laid over xc style of riding.

Mhh DX's :) How you liking them, mine have pleased me quite well so far. The only thing I reccomend is pulling out the spindle and loc-titing the threads or else they will probably start creaking after a while :)

Haha, I don't really have much use for it now that I have the Trek. I was a little rough on it, so whatever isn't broken, I'm keeping as spare parts or possibly selling in the future. It was a very nice bike though. *tear*

 What the heck are you people talking about?! It's a Specialized Body Geometry. That was probably one of the most comfortable seats I've ever had. Then someone stole it while my bike was locked up on a rack! My Bontrager Race Lite Lux is pretty good too, but that specialized was nice!

Not stock (I built it up myself), but budget, all in all, I spent about $150 including the $45 Nashbar frame. The crank has changed since this picture and a FD has been added and a different front tire.

Picked it up for $85 a year or so ago. All it needs is a bigger front tire as I have to steer at 45 degree angles to move in a straight line in sand.

Back when it was mostly stock...at the time, I think I paid about $600US for it (new in 2004)...it has since been much more modified (got it down to 22.82lbs) and then just recently was downgraded to commuter/winter bike duty.
