Eastern Canada - How do you keep busy in the winter?

Have you ever tried mountain bike touring in the winter?

I am more a fair-weather biker, and I know that the weather in this area has been a bit screwy.

I lived in Ottawa most of my life, and I used to love hiking through the greenbelt and other areas like that. I would spend a lot of time on the skis, or just hiking through the snow. If I were still working, I would be commuting in this weather because the streets are still in good shape.

I am so used to the cold and snow that I am almost at a lack of what to do for outdoor activities at this time. I am so used to hiking in the snow, but I could go mountain biking as it is now. I am not complaining, the more reason that I have to bike, the better; but this is just weird, usually I am hiking or cross country skiing.

I'm a year round bike commuter, 50km/day +I XC ski and snowshoe and bike the concessions around Collingwood in winter as well

I think it is awesome that you bike all winter, but dont you miss snow? It is hard to ski and snowshoe without it. Personally I always hope we have a extremely cold winter, but now it seems impossible.

Bike rider all year round, runner during the cold months of the year. Spending time with friends and working as well can't hurt.

Ride indoors, running and yes skiing.

Get a Snow mobile for the winter.

I have a snowmobile. It's a 198? Mountainbike. Ride every day to work. 30Kms round trip. Love winter riding, it's technically challenging. You really need good balance. To while away the evenings and weekends, I've got bikes to work on. There's always a new one or upkeep on the fleet(I have15 or 20 ridable bikes and another 35 projects).
