View Full Version : My Winter Bike

Hey guys, I bought a 2006 Lemond Reno for road riding. I am now addicted to riding. So with the winter coming I dont want to stop. So I got out my retired bike and am setting it up for the winter.

Its a 2002 Specialized Rockhopper. I put Geax Blade tires on the front and rear. SKS Commuter fenders (I have to rig up the front one still as the bike doesnt have any mounting points on it), and Im going to get it all tuned up.

I also have a nashbar rear blinkie and cateye EL 320 headlight not pictured which are both great!
Anyway heres it before.

Definately not the most impressive I have seen but it works for my commute. Cant wait for a little snow.

That should make a great winter bike. Here is a way to mount a fender to a front fork if you would rather not have a high rise type of front fender.

By the way, are the sidewalls on those tires reflective or just colored.

I can't say I'm very fond of the green tires, but if you like it, rock on :beer:

Function over fashion. Those are geax blade tires, which are awesome in the snow.

I think my Spike Claw 240s have lots of Function with out much Fashion (such as color) for snow and ice :D

That should make a great winter bike. Here is a way to mount a fender to a front fork if you would rather not have a high rise type of front fender.

By the way, are the sidewalls on those tires reflective or just colored.

Thanks for the tip. That will definately help me mount the front fenders. And the sidewalls are just green, not reflective.

Well I dont really mind the green although it would not be my fist choice. I was trying to keep this bike on a budget so $30+ for each snow tire was to much for me. These seemed to be the second best in snow and Nashbar was selling them for $9 each so I picked them up. For that cheap Ill put up with green sidewalls. :)
