Southern California - Mt. Baldy Pre-Ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I think I've got a whopping 12 miles on the saddle so far this month and will hopefully get in 50-70 more before shipping my bike to LA next Tuesday. I'll be arriving in LA on either Tuesday or Wednesday after Christmas and would like to get out for a ride on Thursday the 28th as a way to get the legs loosened up before the ascent on Mt. Baldy on Saturday the 30th.
Would anyone be interested in joining me on the Thursday? My bike will be in Azusa but I'll be in Seal Beach but I can probably either get my bike to SB or me to Azusa if anyone has a preferred starting point.
Any takers?

I don't actually get back until the evening of the 29th. Otherwise, I would have loved to have joined. I'm glad you're joining on the 30th. :)
I may be able to join for a ride along PCH down to San clemente and back. We can meet anywhere along PCH.

My preference would be something at or under 50 miles. Starting from Seal Beach would be great. Not sure if SB to San Clemente and back is longer than 50 but we can adjust accordingly...or you could probably just shame me into going further.

Bumpin' this to see if I can generate any additional interest for a ride on Thursday the 28th, in or around the Azusa or Seal Beach area. Looks like jschen and octico so far.
If you're starting in Seal Beach and the time frame works for me (early morning, home by noon), then I'm in. :D
There's a good chance I won't be able to make it since it is a bit far from me, but I'll keep checking to see what's planned and if I can make it, I'd love to be there.

Morning will work better for me. I'd prefer to start after the sun comes up though, so nothing before 7 a.m. please. :) Someone suggest a start time.
Does commute traffic that time of the morning make a weekday PCH ride tougher/more dangerous? Granted it's holiday traffic so it could be lighter. SGR is another option I s'pose.
If I'm in SB, Brandy's in HB and Octico's coming from Fullerton then I guess it makes sense to do a Seal Beach start? Lemme know.
Hmmm...if I can confirm this before tomorrow then I'll ship my bike to SB instead of to Azusa. Yep...that makes sense.
I can start earlier and ride up and meet you in Seal Beach...as long as I'm home before noon, I'm good. Traffic on PCH can actually be worse on the weekends, in my opinion. You just need to pay attention.

My LA geography failed me and I was thinking HB was north of SB (although I know the "other HB"..Hermosa...IS north) so I was thinking you'd be riding south to meet me...but I can ride south to meet you in HB if we're riding south on PCH. On the map it's only about an inch from SB to HB! How long should it take from SB to HB at 15-18 mph?
Octico? You still in? Others?
