Texas - All Texans chime in. Its time to secede.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Inspired by our CA bretheren (who have not 1 but TWO regional forums for their state), I think Tx is big enough to have its own regional forum.

I think Texas actually owns quite a few of the regional subforums, thanks to the quick thinking of a certain unnamed someone.

hell yeah.
I've been trying to get this forum renamed "Texas and the rest of the southwest"
but no one in the mods forum seems to listen to me.

I'll bring this'un up agin .

Is Austin really part of Texas? It's looking a whole lot like California around here to me. Bad drivers, self centered egomaniacs, brunettes trying to pass themselves off as blonde's.
Oh wait...........we always had those. But I'm sure Cali is screwing us up, I just cant prove it.

Up to 23 votes for. I thought it might be more by now - then again it hasn't even been 24 hrs yet.

So...just out of curiosity, I took a quick look at census info and found that there are approximately the same number of people in the 6 LA-area counties as there are in Texas...about 21M. I still don't understand why that area doesn't just sink into the ocean! Without a doubt though, TX is under-represented on this board (or at least in this regional forum)!

ravenmore
12-15-06, 11:02 AM
bump - c'mon guys, don't think 27 votes is going to do it. If you know any Tx members on the forums I'd suggest PM'ing them a link to this thread. I've done a few. :)

I thought this was a poll about Texas seceding from the US of A. As a Californian, I'd've voted for that. :D But it's only about whether Texas should be it's own region in BF - how disappointing. But what the heck, if they want it . . .

Just voted!

Cool - we're getting there - almost 40 votes. I think a Texan forum would generate more traffic once it was created and the locals start yacking with each other... :)

Another reason why Texas needs its own forum ...

I just clicked the Southeast forum and couldn't find a blessed thing on this great state and then I wondered if I was in the wrong area and sure enough, a few clicks later I realized Texas was grouped with the Southwest. Its really Southcentral or just South but I think it is better to just call it Texas. :)

Who are the two ******* who voted 'No'. We must deal with dissenters harshly. Especially since we have overwhelming majority. This is a fine case where mob rule will work to perfection.

ooops...I should read the whole thread first. Looks like the naysayers were strung up.

I vote to rename the Southwest to "Texas, etc."

Since I've just stumbled across this thread & there seems to be a lot of interest (relatively speaking), go ahead and advocate for one

Would this mean that riding info, sharing experience about the peculiarly Texan cycling adventures would be more easily found? Would anyone care what cycling opportunities there were in Bryan-College Station?

On the other hand, you folks seem to have reasonably dominant presence in the Southwest BF forum which is better for keeping our neighbors under control...:D

I live in East Texas, Bossier City, so I voted YES!~

ravenmore
01-09-07, 07:36 AM
Yeah - I just think it would be better to organize rides and TX social events in a TX specific forum - esp. after seeing the S. California forum in action. Heck - even a TX forum might be too generalized as events in N. Texas are probably too far to be of concern for folks in S. Texas or E. Texas, ect.....

I'm a-gin-it.I an't for givin up Airezona and New Mexico to them Hippies out in Calaforina.I know we could cut Texas up into several sections--piney woods--coastal plans--hill country--tran pacos--etc and each one would be a great site---each has it's own idenity---but so does the rest of the areas in the SW forum---guess living all my life in Tx just taught me to think big--Calaforinia just needed to cut it's self down to the size they think in,that's why they needed two fourms. So I vote for BIG --the hole enchilada---sam

whoo hoo - thanks Cuda. I think there will be more activity once one is created and folks start talking to one another.

D@mn skippy - my great great great (maybe a couple more greats in there) grandfather died at the Alamo. It's how my family got to Texas. Our bloods in the soil. ;) Least I can do to honor them is fight for our own forum!!!!!

Dear Forum Master,
please give Texas it's own regional forum. Texas is not in the southwest. It is also not in the south. It is more like a big armpit between the two.

I have been to multiple places in NM, and it has a few spots that are nice. But, that is pretty funny, that someone in NM would call TX an armpit. If you ever even get to TX in Summer, go sit by the Guadalupe river near Gruene until you change your mind. And yes, you will:p,,,,BD
