Hi all.

Well Im done one week of riding. One thing Ive noticed so far is that I feel so much better lately. I havnt noticed much difference in my body yet though. I have noticed huge changes in my legs but when doe sthe chubbs start to come off a bit?

May I ask you guys when yours started to show? Stomach especially.

Thanks,

it all just depends how hard you work. You can't just cycle and expect and immediate change. If you eat healthy and at the right times you'll be noticing a change soon. Just keep riding, try to eliminate junk from your diet(incase you haven't already), and think positive. Another thing, take it slow...or else it'll get old fast

Ask yourself, "How long did it take to put these "chubbs" on?"

Probably take about the same to get it off.

One week? Come back in AT LEAST one month MINIMUM, if not 3 months.

I don't see how you can possibly notice a difference in leg size or tone around the legs in 1 week. I think you have a case of mental change. Your body doesn't really physically start adding muscle mass until 10-12weeks OR SO of working out. Of course you'll notice a change when you're losing weight so it might look like you're gaining muscle, though infact you're just slimming down/toning and making "nerve" connections in your muscles you haven't used for awhile which will lead to more muscle mass.

No I have noticed change in my legs. I used to play soccer for about 6 years until I was 16. Im 20 now and After about a week I started seeing those large muscles I have in my legs again. I have a body thats already quite built I took after my father for that. But I really want to be toned and feel better health wise. and work on getting rid of a little bit of belly. But yea I have noticed change in my legs already....I dont think Im imagining it LOL

Whatever i'm not gunna argue with you over something so trivial. Good diet + regular cardio = no belly.

Changes in my body seem to come in increments. I'll wake up one day, and find that my pants are hanging. Keep up the work, and also watch what you eat, and the results will follow!

I noticed changes quickly...my leg mass did in fact start to increase within weeks. This was a combination of fat loss/water loss and muscle growth. But then again I can look at a 45 degree leg press machine and my legs grow. I love my genetics when it comes to muscle mass.

On the other hand body fat likes to hang on for dear life. My biggest issue is I only have one half of the equation bad diet + regular cardio + increase muscle mass = power lifter look :D

Like 2 months- with good eating and cardio from running and cycling, and doing weightlifting.

Just give it time (I'm sure you are).

Leg mass didn't increase, you just lost fat/water like you said around that area, and weekS, not 7 days.

Muscle mass, ie hypertrophy, doesn't occur for at least for 4 weeks if you have really good genetics, but generally it's ~10 weeks. "Initial strength training is purely a motor skill development activity where the central nervous system harnesses existing resources to perform the strength activities more efficiently and to exploit the structures of muscle more effectively." Maelstrom you see your muscles get bigger on the leg press because you're using them, which i'm sure you know ;) If you had good genetics you wouldn't have much body fat at all, naturally. Joe even though you played soccer for 6 years you lost any gains from that because you quit for 4 years. Anyways at this point most of it is water weight and the like...

Definately keep it up! The results are well worth the effort

They were pumped as my bb friends use to refer to it.

Ah yes the deep ache of my tendons...I really need to open a REAL gym in this town. Makes me sad to think of having to workout in a fitness centre. Arg...

Eh...disagree (not about the using part)...I have fantastic genetics for carrying and building muscle. My genetics for carrying fat lack. Genetics may be the wrong term but my point about that is right. Your body can be exceptional at one and poor at the other. Being an Endo-meso this is an ongoing fight :)

Do it man, if you don't have any REAL gym in your city/town there's good money to be had. Cash in on the obesity of this nation as well as the health craze. See if you can open a Ballys or 24hour fitness or something like that.

i was in a leg cast for over 3 months, and when i got out of it, my leg looked like a twig. i have always had large leg muscles, so it looked very disproportionate compared to my other leg. it's sad that atrophy (i.e. muscle mass loss) starts to occur in about 3 days.
a week after i got my cast off, i was riding my bike, and after about 2 weeks of riding i have definately noticed my previously broken leg is considerably bigger, almost back to normal size. maybe hypertrophe is faster when it follows directly after atrophe, i don't know.
but i'm not imagining that my leg muscles have almost all grown back after 2 weeks.

in regards to the original question: with other weight training and exercise programs i have done in the past, it took about 2-3 months to usually see a very big improvement in muscle mass. the belly is the issue i am always struggling with too. for some of us there's just not much hope for that. i'm not giving up my micro-brews, though.

Unfortunately the obesity rate in Whistler is like 1%...Everyone and I do mean EVERYONE rides (dh, xc,bmx and freeriding), snowboard, kayaks, skis or skates (skateboard) I am considering it but really the gyms here are the way they because of a lack of need of REAL gyms. Frustrating for the Gym rat in me.

Muscle memory is very powerful and is quite a bit better than just trying to cause pure growth.
