I hang out in this forum more than any other, and looking around elsewhere on BF I see that we here in C&V post more photos than an any other Forum Category. I understand it is free to post pictures but bandwith has a cost and all the photos here add up.

Since it is the giving time of the year how about upgrading some memberships. Understanding that there's more than a few of us C&Vers who are flipping bikes for some extra cash it's a good way to contribute to the place where we spend some time and show off our rides and finds.

I upgraded my membership because I've gotten at least $25 worth of knowledge from this place--and I like the pretty pictures as well.

Also, there's no problem in gifting a upgraded membership as well. I've done that too.

For those who are interested you can paypal $25 to bikeforums@yahoo.com.

Proud red star member since ? I forget. But I joined up.

How can we purchase a gift membership? Mods?

Not to sound like a shameless plug, but if you've already
upgraded there's nothing that says you can't donate again.
And since it's the silly season (politically incorrect correct verbage)
you can "donate" the star to whomever you wish.

Do we 'donate' the red star through the mods after we fork over the cash?

yup, just send a PM. best bet is to send to Joe or That Forum Guy as they
can update group membership, but any of the mods can request the red star.

I'm all for that. After I saw the value of the information posted here it was an easy decision to use a measely $25 profit from one of the bikes I flipped and turn it into a Red Star here on the BF Boards. I did that after I was looking around and posting here after only a few months.

Hey everyone... Just because it's here for you to use doesn't mean it's "Free". Someone put the time into putting this together and making it what it is so you can use it to your benefit especially here in the Classic and Vintage Forum. I'm sure hosting this website costs a chunk of cash. That probably takes some money out of someones pocket. If you are making money from BikeForums in some some way by learning, selling, or providing something here or on Ebay or Craigslist then think about who put this together for you to use.

Maybe we could have different color stars like ebay, the more money you donate, you get a different color star.

Bad idea!

I still think that Sheldon Brown deserves a unique GOLD star, just for being Sheldon.

And because he's probably helped more people with their bikes than just about anyone else on this planet.

There have actually been quite a number of 'secret santa' red stars donated to C&V members this past week. There was a thread in the Foo forum with the list of names, let me go find that link...

and found:

I sent a private one to my Secret Santa as well! Blessings to you! :D I keep checking other posters status in order to return the favor, and all I can say is "Santa certainly was generous!" I received my Red Star and found that 50+ year old Hercules all in the same week! A joyous season it is indeed!

Aaron,

My blessings are too numerous to count! :D I was just trying to send some back to the kind soul who gifted me. Since it might not be appropriate to use my normal expression, "G_ _ bless you," I made one up! I like it. What do you think? "Blessings to ya, wahoonc!"

OK Cuda2k...

When did you get a blue star?

Married and a blue star in the same year... you are at the pinnacle, and have nowhere to go but down! :D

I don't think I would have noticed yet except I was curious if everyone in this thread was athe owner of a red starso was scanning down as I was reading when I saw your blue one.

Belated congrats!

I got the star, oh geez, how long has it been now, about a month or so. Thanks for the belated congrats. And a thanks to this forum for being one of those areas where I can escape to without having to actually do any real moderating. :)

Nothing like being told 'your turn to do the BMX forum' to put fear into the heart of a moderator...like one of yesterday's threads there.

I need one of Tom Stormcrowe's smilies for 'extravagantly rolling on the floor laughing madly out loud', the ones available aren't huge enough. Perhaps I should throw in my best muhahahahah...:D .

Quick work on the part of That Forum Guy cleaned up that thread.
