Mountain Biking - Happy Day!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So I was getting groceries today and I decided to stop by the bike shop next door. I walk in and I see the bike I've had ordered for 2 months at another store in stock at this one! I picked it up immediately and I'm still in shock that I finally found my bike. It's a Stumpjumper FSR Comp and I'll soon have Avid Mechs thrown on in the next few days.

Pics are kinda crappy cause my car is in the way. Maybe more pictures later ... lol.
One question I do have though for those of you that have this bike. What levers did it come with? Mine have Avid AD3's on them, but the catalog says it should come with SD5's and the Specialized site says SD-30 (do these even exist?).

How much did you pay for the stumpy if you don't mind me asking? I'm really considering getting one myself. I saw one (fsr comp) at a lbs for $1999 but the specialized web site says msrp is $1740.
Whoa! 1999!??!?! That's quite expensive. Mine was priced at $1740 (higher than 2 months ago @ 1500-1600) but he gave me 10% off of that to make me feel special. ~$1570 pre tax and $1700 out the door. I was willing to spend up to $1600 on the bike anywhere I could find it so the choice wasn't hard.
I don't know what levers are supposed to come on the Stumpy I know that my Rockhopper came with AD3's

yup ... hubs are disc ready and everything. :) :D :) :D :) I have the avid mechs and the full metal jackets sitting next to me as well. I want to question the LBS about the levers before I add anything though just in case they claim foul play.

You were supposed to get the SD-5 5 levers as well. Not a big deal, but they should be there no doubt.
Nice going on the bike. The FSR is an awesome design and i think specialized is suprised this year about how many more traditional FSR's they've been selling vs the Epic. I know you'll enjoy the bike. I have an '02 FSR SJ Comp and still love it

I got mine for 1400$ and it came with the ad3's. The brakes are ok, but i am thinking of getting avid mech discs. I guess i got a great deal. I asked the shop. They said they pay 1200 for it. So for 200$ more i got mine. Not a bad deal.

Last years Stumpies were shipped with SD5's, mine is, you should have got them too, just ask nicely?
I like the Yellow, what size, mine is a small, do you want to trade?:D
ya, I'll go ahead and ask nicely on tuesday when they're open again. It's good to know what someone else got AD3's as well though. Are the speed dials that big of a deal? I guess it's a little bothersome that you know it should come with one thing, but you get another.
I love the yellow. I was thinking about buying a case model (semi polished) and swapping all the parts out, but I'm so glad I saw one of these in person. Awesome color. Oh ... mine is a large. I guess I can put the mechs on today or tomorrow .... sweetness. I can't wait to hit the trails.

I scored my comp this year in a sale for 1450. I don't know how they can charge over the MSRP. Supply and demand I guess.
Congrats on the new ride! I'm sure you'll love it to itty-bitty pieces.

Come live in Whistler. Everything is over msrp. Cost of rent justifies it :)
Avids and FMJ installed!
Time to hit the trails.

Nice purchase. I am really starting to enjoy playing with the bikes with the Fox Forks on them. They seem to be really nice.
These brakes are awesome. I was told by a few bike stores to go hydraulic ... "do it right the first time" ... "hydraulics feel a lot better ... here try these levers out". I don't really know what they're talking about cause I get the same feel as hydraulics at the levers which I love. It did take me some time to route/cut/adjust the cables and rotors themselves, but I think I'm ready to roll.

Sweet bike and sweet brakes. I like to taxi-cab yellow frame! Looks fast!
I also am a big fan of Specialized bikes and the 4-bar suspension design!
Congrats. Enjoy the ride!

Hey no fair! Whats that thing on the back of the frame where the seatpost goes? Mine doesn't have one! I'm jealous!

weird ... instead you have yest ANOTHER Specialized logo on yoru bike. The angle of your tube also looks really flat compared to mine. strange.
Probably because it was taken at eye level standing up. Does that mean I'm short? lol
Mine is a L ... you? I'm still not 100% sure what that bolt is for.
Ah maybe thats why, mine's a M
