Classic & Vintage - Yet another Peugeot Pfn10

looking good, waiting for more pics, but tempted already (wish I had a garage or a BIG shed so I could store lots of bikes).

From 'classic rendez-vous' :

(Sounds a lot like this one)
But how's the ride with these frames? Anyone have a similar one?

Black would be nice, white may be even better. Too bad there isn't a match for that particular color...unless you can dye some white cotton tape.

I'm ignoring that bartape (1st thing to go on any bike, I like new and usually neutral coloured tape on a cleaned up bike) but that framecolour is screaming 'buy me! buy me!' Don't know anything about the ride of that Vitus 172 tubing though. I'm not necessarily looking for the lightest frame as I'd probably turn the bike into (another) commuter. Anyone familiar with this particular steel?

Dusting off this thread . . . my neighbor gave me a Peugeot that looks very much like this one. Brake levers and saddle are different, but the frame color and decals are the same. From a bit of research it appears to be a 1980 model.

Not sure what I'm going to do with it. Probably just clean it up and get it working. Do you know what size the tires are?

Throw up some pics. Peugeots are notorious for looking 'alike'. Take a full side shot and one of the frame tubing decals. Tell us what kind of derailleurs and brakes are on it.

I'll get some pix tonight. Decals are as above, and paint color is the same. It has Simplex derailleurs, Stronglight crank, ATAX stem, MAVIC rims, and Weinmann brakes. Saddle is cheapo plastic from Taiwan. Surprisingly the wheels are true. Yellow bar tape :).

The serial number is on a sticker on the bottom bracket, but there is a number stamped as well. I'll have to clean it up and maybe remove the cable guide to see it.

Model code is PFN10 (with 54 after it). Serial number is 0899316. Only 7 digits, but it seems to be a 1980 model. Correct?

The bike is a bit small, but I think I could make it work with a longer seat post and stem. The tires hold air believe it or not. I rode it up and down the street.
