Well, I dont know what to say. I've got to stop bringing junk home. I'm in the doghouse big-time right now...
The little woman is VERY unhappy with me...
I went back to that guy's house with the intention of only grabbing the Browning but, I couldn't resist this old POS Gitane Olympic Record II...
The Browning is very, very rough but, I think it will convert to a nice cruiser or foul weather ride.... Pivo stem, Mafac Racer's, etc...1973ish??
Too bad the original Ideale saddle is shot:(
There are some very, very strange parts w/ Belgian names and writing on them. Also a social security number (I think)

The Gitane is a 1976 and I hear these were made in Japan??:

And finally, I dont understand why this guy hoarded and neglected so many once-great bikes. Here is what I saw in the pile, beneath all of the cylinder heads that the fool threw on top:
Everything from a few would-have-been-nice Schwinns, a VERY interesting looking Urago, lower-end Raleigh's from the 60's, a Robin Hood women's model frame with all of the parts picked off it, a J.C. Higgins w/ very fancy crankset w/ a crowbar bending it all up, Motobecanes w/ bent forks: Grand Jubilee, Grand Touring, 2 could-have-been beautiful Schwinn Le Tours that he piled garbage on, I dont understand people like this...
He asked if I'd like to purchase the whole pile....
