Road Cycling - Campagnolo Triumph

Does anyone have any info about this gruppo? Anything you know and will post here will be appreciated. I just purchased this beautiful old Paramount and know nothing about Campy Triumph.

That bike is hot. It looks like its in great shape! Perhaps campyonly might have something?

I just searched for campy triumph for about 20 min, and the only thing I came up with is that it is was made in 1980's and is one of the lower end groupos... :rolleyes:

That's an older Paramount road bike with Campy parts on it, the specific group is Triumph. However, Marlin doesn't know anything about Triumph so he is asking if anybody here does.

Campy is an Italian bike component maker that is very highly regarded in cycling. It's very expensive, very cool, and is only made for road bikes.

Try searching google.com for info on Campagnola if you want to learn more.

I'm a little slow to keep this thread going. Thanks to those helping. Yes it is a Parmount frame. My question is about the Campagnolo Triumph gruppo. I've never heard of that and was hoping some of you could give me some info about it.

Marlin523 - try www.campyonly.com They have tons of Campy related info and a history forum where you can look up the Triumph info.

Also, go to www.waterfordbikes.com and click on 'Velorotica'. This will give you the history of the Paramount bicycle from its inception in 1938 to the death of Schwinn in 1992 (the Schwinn family owned Schwinn, that is). Will give you details on dating your frameset, etc. Nice looking bike! I ride an '87. Is yours an all chrome frameset?

Nice info on Paramounts. The Campy components (triumph or Triomphe) ob this bike must have not been the original group for a 1961.

I've definitely never heard of Campagnolo Triumph. It is either very new or very very old.

The Triomphe Gruppo was introduced in the 1986
catalogue.
There were 2 version the leisure and
corsa groups. I believe the leisure was a long
cage design.

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) the groups offered
in 1986 were:

Super Record - top of line
Nuovo Record
C Record
Victory
Triomphe
980 Budget group
960

Definately not what came standard on your bike.

Triomphe is certainly nothing to sneeze at. The way I understand it is that the Triomphe and Victory groups were introduced to offer a more affordable group to the non-competitive cyclist. There really is not that much difference in price or quality between Super and Nouvo Records so some middle ground was needed. SR/NR was replaced around '87-'88 with Record (C Record) and Chorus... although they showed up earlier in trade catalogs. The rest of the Campy catalog went bonkers in the early 90's as competition with Shimano become ferocious. Anyway... Triomphe and Victory are kinda scarce parts and getting a little more desireable all the time. When you replace that crankset with the laser-etched SR crankset its supposed to have, let me know and I'll buy it :D

I agree with Rarevos, my post wasn't in
any way a statement of quality etc.
I would venture a guess that Triomphe would
be equivilent to todays Centaur group.
86 catalogue was strange in that it had
3 record gruppo's with the inclusion of C-record.
Its kind of an interim catalogue just prior to
the catalogue changes that followed
(dropping S record and N record).

The first Trek I lusted after (760) came with
Triomphe gruppo (or was it victory?).
