Mountain Biking - Semi bad day on th MTB

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
It started out a blast, but then the trail wasn't marked to well and I couldn't figure out the map(sob story) so I went the wrong way. Two wades through maddy water and a long climb later, I decided, "This isn't the right way." What an epiphany!! No duh!! There was a sign saying, "Now leaving state forest." So I get back to the trail, and everything is sorta ok, except the fun stuff is over and it's boring. Then I get back to the car, where I happen to stand in a freaking fire ant colony. So I had to drive an 1:30 with my legs burning from a fire ant attack. Now my legs are swollen up real bad down at my ankles.
My bros got a pick of me trying to ride through a section of the trail that was flooded. It didn't look very deep, so I got a fast start and headed in, but it kept getting deeper, and deeper, until only my handle bars and seat where above the water. But I was still riding!!!!! Then my tires kinda floated and lost traction, so I fell into the water. Hee hee, my bike is clean now.

I'm just glad to here you were back on the trails Fubes!
I was afraid you had completely disowned the Tribe. :)
That's one nice day! You said your bros got a pic of you trying to ride through a section of deep water; did they happen to take a pic of your legs after that ant attack? Anyways, get better!
Hey that sounds like a genuine MTB experience! :D well, except for the fire ant attack. Anyway, get better soon so you can be back out there on the deep rivers.

Heck, you call that a bad ride?;)
Ah, only on a mountain bike!
I would rather be riding through the deepest, murkiest bog on earth than at work or in class! There is no such thing as a BAD day on a bike :D
Sounds decent except for the ants. Wait a minute......You use a MAP? What kind of man are you?
At least he dosn't use GPS:roflmao:

It was double track and basically flat man..Plus all the turns were wicked muddy so there was no hammering goin' on.
Yes I had a map...didn't do me much good. Dam maps, they are for women(hee hee). I should have followed in sense of direction.
I'll get a pic up soon.
The fire ant part really made the day suck..If that hadn't happened, nothing would have been bad..
Oh well, I guess it's just karma getting back at me for not riding my MTB more. ;)

I stopped bringing maps on my rides. I always get lost. So now I use my sense of direction and always find new trails to play on :)

Well that's the part I left out...The trail I followed that went off the park turned into something right out of BIKE. There were ramps, bridges up in the trees, a couple gap jumps..I did one of the jumps, but I was all decked out in XC stuff, so I didn't stick aorund long. I had seen a guy on a Bullit once and couldn't figure out what the heck he was doing wih a freeride bike at an XC trail...now I know.
if the darn fire ants hadn't bit me I probably wouldn't have even thought bad day...But now I have all these little bumps full of pus.

yes we sometimes get "lost" on our local trails that just happen to lead to a hiking only trail :p the people are usually really nice when we tell them we're lost and need help getting back to the biking trails :)
