"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Two brothers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
When I saw this on TV yesterday it brought tears to my eyes.

Say what you will about Lance but the fact is that he waited for Ullrich after his bad crash instead of attacking. Now that's integrity. He wanted to win the race outright, not by default.
Ullrich crashed? I missed that I guess.

He went off the road and over the bars during stage 13
That is an awesome thing. If they had been in the lead, i have, no doubt Lance would have given the stage to Jan. God knows he's earned it. It can't be easy being dropped by Lance.
Lance waited for Jan when he had his accident. My question is this. On stage 8? when half the peloton got caught behind the crash was it out of the ordinary or unsportsman like for the lead group to open up a 35 minute gap? or should, out of sportsmanship, they have waited? Just wondering. Its a moog point now anyway. Lance and Jan pretty much showed thier metal in the mountains. ride long and prosper Stan

Ya I saw the crash of Ullrich and lance really waited for him, I beleive they have an unwritten gentlemans agreement in the Tour that if your on the lead and your closest pursuer suffer a flat or an accident the cyclicts who's on the lead will have to wait for the other guy to recover. I also remember that during the 1998 Tour Jan also suffer a flat during the mountain stages and the lead group waited for Jan to recover and because Jan was Number one in the General classification at that time
