No, not like Sir Mix a Lot.

What I do have, is one sore painful back.
Yesterday, before going out for a ride I thought
I should "do the right thing" and do some yard work,
nothing too heavy.
After the mowing and edging etc.
I focused on the tree in the yard, and thought
I'd remove those posts with guide wires since
the tree's been planted long enought. Cut and
removed guy wires and gave a mighty pull on the
post, it didn't give, but my back did. . .
I'm on RICE now.
Didn't get in that ride
probably catch up on maintenance this week.
might even get in a 5 miler on Saturday. . .

Sigh

Let this be a lesson to all: Ride first, work later! :D

I injured myself over the weekend, too... sprained my ankle, though not very seriously, thank goodness.

The worst part is that I wasn't even doing anything cool/exciting when it happened. I was taking an oversized box out to the garage and stepped off the path where the ground dips just a bit. Ow! I dropped the box and went down.

Couldn't take my road bike out later that afternoon -- clipping in/out on the right side hurt! (I tried in the driveway) ...I did jump on my MTB with platform pedals and went for an hour ride. (Maybe not the best thing to do, but I survived.)

Taking it easy yesterday and today though. Leg is propped up on a chair as we speak. It's a little swollen on the one side. Hope that goes down ASAP!

I feel your pain, lotek. (so to speak) :( Hope you're feeling better soon!

lotek that sucks. Take it easy and you should be fine in a couple of days. I've had back problems and the best thing is rest . Take some robaxacet before retiring, it helps relax back muscles.

Koffee got butt!

Well... I got one like Sir Mix A Lot, but at the same time, I have a saddle sore. I rode anyway outside, and I'm paying for it now. So no riding for the next couple of days, then a short ride on Thursday, and back to riding the long distances again on Friday. I was just trying to break in my saddle WITHOUT the gel seat covering! Sheesh!

I feel your pain, Lotek... :(

Marty, this is how you're supposed to do it. ;)
(At least this is the way I did it)
Went riding first. Then cut the grass, swept the driveway and sidewalk, planted some shrubs, spread some fertilizer before the grass dies, and moved furniture (getting 2 new L/R chairs :) .
Felt like **** that night but I did the most important thing first - ride!

Hope your back feels better soon.

despite that nagging feeling that I'm lazy,
losing fitness, gaining weight etc. I managed to stay off
the bike yesterday, much improved!
I'm gonna give it a rest until the w/e.

Koffee, my sister in law had a "saddle sore" which
she described as pea sized and ignored. She just
rode through the pain right into the O.R. to remove
a 2 inch deep abcess. Yuck.
Surgeon who rides told her if she would have layed
off for a while it would have just healed.

Same thing here- it's pea sized, so I'm laying off it. Literally.

Nowadays, I listen to my body big time. Even if it means I lose some fitness along the way. I lose less fitness than if I just rode through every pain right to the hospital! Thanks for the reinforcement, Lotek.

Koffee, that happened to me last year and it was AWFUL! Even wearing normal undies was painful. I was off the bike for a few days until I was sure it was better. Nothing to fool with! Those things can really make you miserable. It was the fault of shorts that really weren't that great and they sort of pinched me on one side- not to go into any more detail. I will make sure this year I get better shorts.

Hmmmm... I mainly wear cycling tights. But I'm going to continue this in the Women's Cycling section because I have a question for the ladies.
