After some (friendly) negotiating with my carpool, I have shortened my route by a mile, and can now ride on a brand-new, 5-mile long bike lane instead of weaving in and out of sidewalk traffic! I'm very excited!

Hopefully this will allow me to purchase some lighter-weight road wheels instead of the clunkers i have now (no road wheel could stand up to my previous commute- including its countless potholes and curb drops.)

Where to start ;) I guess I'll start by asking why you were on the sidewalk to begin with. Then I'll ask how you expect to benefit from the bike lane as compared to riding on the sidewalk and as compared to riding on the road where you currently ride the sidewalk. We'll go from there :)

I had this conversation with another rider.
He was mistified that people ride on the road. He told me I had a great route. Even though the whole road is under construction for my entire route. Wow. Yes I still ride on the road, I let the people pass me to the Right in one lane cone land.
