Anybody watch this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=330062406179&rd=1&rd=1) auction? Not that I think the price is too far out of line if it is NOS....

Wow! $540.00 is very high. I love the bike. I was watching it as I have 3 Rudge bikes and find them interesting. This one being NOS is a great find. Last year I bought a 1971 New Hudson Sports that was NOS at a local bike shop closeout auction. I rode it at the Lake Pepin 3 speed tour last spring. These rare finds do show up now and then.

Wow wow wow, so thats what they look like new! I owned a Rudge Sports (the same year, of non riding order) very briefly. The chain ring is sitting in the window above my kitchen sink, the head badge is a magnet on my refrigerator, and the actual bike is now being used in my friends garden as a pea trellis:lol:

One of the coolest chainwheels ever designed.

Wonder what it would have gone for in a larger size. Probably too nice to ride so size didn't matter. Wouldn't have room for a non-rider myself.

That is the coolest chainring, I like the Humber dancing around the circle too, see pic, and the Triumph, BSA, Hercules lettered rings. I think I will try to find a humber crank for the one I just bought, it has a standard crank. Are there any other interesting rings on English 3 speeds?

Are there any other interesting rings on English 3 speeds? The Norman had a chainwheel with Norman soldiers for spokes. Unfortunately my 1950 Norman does not have one. Don't know if it had been lost or if the fancy ring was only for premium models.

A friend has an old BSA where the spokes of the chainwheel are 3 artillery pieces. However they are so stylized that he has to explain what they are.

So does the Coventry Cross bike. I will see if I can dig up a picture.

Wow, that Norman is the coolest! If it wasn't a sin to strip bikes for parts I think I'd start collecting them. I've considered buying headbadges on ebay, but I hate to put money in the pocket of guys that part out bikes. I guess if the parts go to restore other bikes it's a good thing. I'll just have to be on the lookout for complete bikes:)

Coventry Cross Chain Ring...I will see if I can get the owner to send me a better picture.
Edit: I think the bike may actually be a Royal Enfield...It is...but there is/was a bike called Coventry Cross, the Wright Brothers sold them, anybody got one?

I know your post is a couple of years old, but if you still have the Rudge head badge, I'd like to buy it for my Rudge junker I'm going to try to resuscitate.

That chainring with 3 artillery pieces is from a Royal Enfield, the head badge also had an artillery motiff and the legend "built like a gun". These chain rings in usable condition are quite hard to find, I have a 1930's Royal Enfield Roadster model that I have had to fit an aftermarket chainring too to get it up and running after restoration (the whole bike cost me about 50 cents US to buy !)

Fuji has adopted the Humbler chain ring on some of their current lower end models. Cool stuff.

ccm (canadian cycle and motor) had a cool ccm chain guard back in the day.

not as cool as the ones above, but hey figured i'd give ya a little history lesson in canadian bikes. :)

Might you mean the Royal Enfield rather than BSA?
They have the styalized artillery pieces and headbadge which says Built Like a Gun?
