I've got a footpump I use for my motorbike - it's made by the AA.

When I use it on my motorbike, I simply push it on, and turn the handle 90degrees to lock it.

The valve on my pushbike is Presta, so my motorbike one must be schraeder, as its vastly different, bigger.

I don't want to try it for fear of losing pressure - I've got a CO2 canister that apparently does Presta and Schraeder, but its in my motorbike bike seat, and the motorbike is away being repaired.

But for home use, wonder will this do?

If your pump doesn't convert to presta (some flip around to accomodate both types of valves - yours does not look like that kind), you can buy a converter for a couple of bucks @ your LBS.
