so i've really gotten into cycling. first came a road bike for over the summer, then i came back to school in NYC and got a fixed. love it all a lot. my girlfriend complains because i'll have her take the subway somewhere but i'll ride my bike...

problem is...no one to ride with/meet with. my roommate thinks he knows everything about bikes even though he calls m fixed a ''messenger bike'' and has sora components for his crappy road bike (roadies know)

i'm just pouring my heart out and letting ya'll know i'm lonely...and need bike friends...nothing like cruising around messin' with traffic...alone is great, but i think a pal or two would be better...

your thoughts?

i refuse to believe that you have trouble meeting people to ride with.

i actually got tapped by some guy downtown who thought i was someone else but then rode away quickly when he realized who i wasn't with me whimpering and sobbing behind him :-(

maybe it's not trouble, but maybe its that i don't know how to go about it...?

Why not build the girl a bike, then she won't be mad at you.

d_roche
12-18-06, 01:17 PM
she won't ride it...she gets white (she's bi racial) everytime i get on my bike...she's terrified im gonna die. the man reason i wear a helmet (besides loving my head) is so she won't bit(h. plus she's not very coordinated on a bike. plus, that ****s expensive!

Tell her that its more dangerous to drive a car and if you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem. Then do no handed backwards wheelies around her while smacking her with a messenger bag full of oranges swinging around your neck while you flip her the bird akimbo. Thats what it took to break up with my girlfriend!

PS. what do you have to do for her to get black?

d_roche

i'm not trying to break up with her... but that's ****in' hilarious hahahaha

hahahahahaha

I got a boo (mixed) that keeps the white hidden sometimes...she's gully and rides on my handlebars in traffic... it comes out in full effect during temper tantrums tho

nope, nobody rides here at all.

never been in union square with several hundred cyclists and then took to the streets.

never rode with 70-80 people to dyker heights and then had the owners of houses come out and take pictures of us when we cheered their crazy Christmas lights displays.

try times-up or look at the rides & races forum up there ^^^

Why don't you summon all the love and patience you never thought you have, and little by little, teach your girlfirend to ride a bike. It won't be easy, from your account, but when (not IF!) you succeed, she'll be grateful till the end of the world. And very, very happy. And healthy (all these will translate very positively to your situation).

You'll gain the most faithful, most fun person to ride with.

Even people very uncoordinated can learn to ride a bike, I guarantee you that. If you want to know how I can be so sure, feel free to pm me.

totally agreed. my wife used to feel really left out when i first started riding. i got her a bike, showed her the ropes, and now she asks me every day when we're going for a ride...

i just look at the camera and smile...
