Foo - Commercials that make you want to yell at the TV

I saw a couple of commercials yesterday that were so STOOPID that I ended up yelling at the TV screen. Good thing I was by myself.

The first one was by a cell phone company where two guys were arguing about the lyrics to "Rock the Casbah" by the Clash. Seems they had just downloaded tha song and were messing up the words. The first guy said "Drop the Cashbox" amd the other guy said "Stomp the Catbox". Hello! It's the title of the freakin' song! How in the hell could you download the song without getting the title correct?

The other one was from a SUV company. This big-a$$ SUV pulls into a parking spot and the passengers can't open their doors. The driver says "No problem" and procedes to turn up his (c)rap music all the way and the vibrations move all the cars away from the SUV. If the vibrations were loud to move several tons of steel, just imagine what it would do to a person's eardrums!

Ok, I feel better now that I got that off my chest. Anyone have any commercials that absolutely drive you nuts?

The Geico commercials with that stupid little Gecko dude. :mad: He has such a terrible accent I can never understand a word he says!

I don't really watch a whole lot of TV, so I don't know too many commercials.

Most commercials are stupid. Some funny ones though.

But they are the best thing about the superbowl! :)

I absolutely love the boost mobile commercial with the Asian dude singing "u and dat booty" by E-40, in the bathroom...i crack up everytime i see it!! I also like the Caveman commericals...so easy a caveman could do it.

I personally hate any title for cash commercial....

I think the one mobile commercial with "karma chameleon/where's the hood at" was funny as hell.

1) Enzyte, Smilin' Bob is just creepy and those women on the commercials make me flash back to the Stepford Wives!:eek:

2) Burger King. Creep factor is equally high! If I woke up to the Burger King standing over MY bed, there would be gunfire!:eek:

Some of the Sprint commercials are pretty bad as well.

That Jessica Simpson one. "250 straight days at the gym to get this bod and you're not going to watch me direct tv hd...It's broadcasted in 1080i. I totally don't know what that means but I want it" Ahh get that doof commercial away. I also notice that there are a ton, A TON, of cell phone commercials. I switched to 4 stations and those four had those kinds whether its Cingular, Verizon, ATNT, vonage, t-mobile, Ive seen em all. At the same time that is:D

Yeah, Tom, you hit two of my least favorites of the current crop. I'm not quite sure why BK would want their mascot to look and act like a stalker and potential serial killer.

Probably my least favorite of all time was any of the old "ring around the collar" ads, although I wouldn't mind shoving about a carton of "bathroom tissue" up Mr. Whipple's rectum, either. No, make that sandpaper.

Well, the Head On commercial was the first one that came to mind, even before I opened the thread. However, I agree that the Burger King commercials were super creepy. Perhaps it is proper ettiquette to give someone a Croissanwich in the morning after you gave them your Whopper the night before, but still... that commercial is just wrong. I'm hoping that somewhere there's an out take of that guy beyotch slapping the King upside the head like he's ringing a gong.

Any kind of car commercial.


Most commercials are excruciatingly annoying.

(Except I knida do like the one with the Loch Ness monster and the Toyota truck.)

None, really, though I may have come close before the elections.

It helps to minimize your commercial exposure by flipping to another channel during the breaks.

The GEICO Caveman commercials. I feel so degraded when they show them.

Thank goodness I'm not alone in my crusade! With the exception of a breakfast sandwich at the airport because there was no other fast food in the terminal I was in, I have not eaten a single thing at Burger King since the commercial with the Swedish girls spooning ranch dressing into their mouths from 5 gallon buckets. Their commercials have just been disturbing. At least McDonald's, while playing into every feel good marketing cliche possible, keeps theirs innocuous. The "king" strikes me as a sad attempt to mirror the brilliant success of Jack-in-the-Box in making their interruption of the show as amusing as the show itself.

Also, anything for Virgin or Amp'd ('cause proper conjugation of slang contractions is for nerds) mobile, or the iPod.

And those hideous Intel Core 2 Duo commercials! I feel embarrassed for having bought one now!

For all the commercial haters, like me, I have one word - TiVo.

Record what you want to see, and skip all the commercials. One hour shows turn into 40 minute shows. Most cable/satellite providers will lease a DVR box to you for only a couple bucks a month, well worth being able to skip the commercials. No more talking to the TV during bad commercials...
