I am appaled about how network consolidation has affected the quality of music availalable to radio listeners. Once I traveled across the entire country. Each major town I passed, I'd hit the scan button. Dallas sounded identical to Chicago. No variety, standard formats. It does not have to be that way. Hit the scan button as one crosses Canada. There, they have music content laws. It was different.
I blame it on network consolidation. Same applies to information. important link below. I hope Americans start screaming at the FCC, that we want our airwaves back. My guess, less than 5% of radio stations are independently owned. THe few independent stations that I have discovered across the USA, had far different programming than the crap given us by the major networks.
