Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

hey all, i'm heading to x-days in zurich over new years and then i'm going to be on the continent for all of january and february heading to budapest, vienna, prague, berlin, brussels, paris, barcelona, and perhaps other places. looking for anyone in any of these places who might be willing to show me around or let me know of a place to crash. i've been a messenger in minneapolis, mn for four years now, ride fixed, and i'm interested to find out more about euro bike culture and such. reply or drop me a line.

cheers,

andy

Talk to LoFarkas about Budapest. Have a good time there. Down some Unicum. It'll warm your stomach and brace you for that cold cold winter.

Damn, I just moved back to the US from Paris last year, or else I would have hooked you up over there. Really great city, very bike-able. I might still be able to help you out, but I haven't really been there as a tourist, so I don't know how much useful info I can tell you. I can give you the name of some good bars, if nothing else.

Yeah, I'm the resident Bp guy here. Sounds like you got a nice plan going.

I'm just a commuter and BF addict, not really in messenger circles and all that.
Ex-forum member ella (originally from NY) happens to live here now. She knows all the Bp messengers (she married one) so if you want to hang out w/ messengers/bike maniacs I can put you in touch with her. If you went to CMWC's you may know her or some local messies.

Unicum strongly recommended, but try some pálinka as well. Vilmos is good stuff:)

PM for IRL name/details of ella or other particulars.

hey, brother, i'm most likely doing the same thing, same time. i'll start in paris i think, and mostly am looking to move to barcelona. i want to find out about cycling there, as well. but if you need friend and our schedules would coincide, let's go around some. i'll meet up with the squatters in barcelona to live, but other than that, use couchsurfing.com to find free and friendly accommodation.

im living in germany (from massachusetts), but will be in austria for the winter holidays. Other than kerin belrin i have had problems finding fixed stuff. there is one shop in the netherlands i have ordered from that offers a bit, but not too much. All the people in the local bikeshops here dont even know much about fixed.. if anything. i know in london fixed stuff is pretty popular, but besides that you rarely see it in europe. most cycling is based around just utilitarian city transport bikes. racks, fenders, bells, big tires, heavy, upright, etc. and sometimes a bit of road riding.

Haha deathheare... gr tricked me. I wonder how I didn't notice this thread back then tho. Obvious conclusion: I don't spend enough time on BF.
