If I ever own a cattle ranch... it's gonna be the 'NJS' ranch, just so I can brand my cattle NJS.

You guys never stowed away on one of those big cargo ships? Just gotta find a container filled with dorito's and you're set.

If you found someone handy with an engraver you could make yourself alot of money. And no matter what logo you put on your turds its still s***.

Agreed. Once you get the rims, then you have to drop a bajillion dollars on NJS tires, which I don't think would be very good on the street. Is there NJS glue?

I still have no idea how much these are, but if someone's gunning for full NJS, the difference in price between, say DA/OP or DA/Araya is going to be negligible.

Of course you can run whatever wheels you want on your keirin bike, but if you want tubs thos look damn sweet. prob much better value than my NJS slouchy lavender legwarmers.

eh no. overboard.. i never knew my lbs store were able to get them until i asked them out of the blue. i always did thought those araya golds were a really nice lookin shiny rim. , plus i like the really thin rim look with the ride feel of tubular. so i got them. and there terrific rims. regular spokes will do.

Does anyone make NJS saddles?

Edit: Other than the Kashimax

not anymore. ariake and fujita used to.

there is no njs rim cement, although they likely use soyo or panacement.

as far as njs on the street goes, i've gathered the following:

- araya golds aren't really durable enough for street use, even when built up well
- soyo tubulars cost upwards of $80, have a thin tread and no puncture protection belt.
- kashimax saddles are very uncomfortable for general riding
- rx-1, custom nuevo and royal nuevo pedals provide a smaller platform than a sylvan.
- if loose bearing bb's in the hub, bottom bracket and headset are properly maintained from time to time, then they are fine for street use.
- nut and bolt masterlinks on njs chains are intended for track use only, but some report no problem on the street.

most of the keirin style builds on velospace and fgg don't have njs saddles, tires, rims, or spokes. those parts aren't really functional for street use (save the spokes which are hard to come by and only njs in a specific size).

i'm of the opinion that the fact a bike not being built 100% to period, country or whatever doesn't detract from it's "value" at all. i don't think that people should be criticized for building, or wanting to build, a bike up in the spirit of a particular aesthetic. there's a significant investment in building up most any bike from scratch, regardless of how unique it appears.

CORRECT

THEY DO VERY WELL AGAIN ITS WHO BUILD THE WHEELS

- soyo tubulars cost upwards of $80, have a thin tread and no puncture protection belt. CORRECT

- kashimax saddles are very uncomfortable for general riding THEY MAKE ONE WITH PADDING ALSO.

- rx-1, custom nuevo and royal nuevo pedals provide a smaller platform than a sylvan. MOST RACING PEDALS PROVIDE SMALL PLATFORM.

- if loose bearing bb's in the hub, bottom bracket and headset are properly maintained from time to time, then they are fine for street use. IT HAS BEEN USED FOR YEARS AND PROVEN.

- nut and bolt masterlinks on njs chains are intended for track use only, but some report no problem on the street.
KEIRIN CHAINS ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WHO USED THE NUTS AND BOLTS. IT IS A PREFERENCE , FOR ME MASTER LINKS COME OFF.

most of the keirin style builds on velospace and fgg don't have njs saddles, tires, rims, or spokes. those parts aren't really functional for street use (save the spokes which are hard to come by and only njs in a specific size).

I HAVE TWO COMPLETE NJS BUILDS MY RAP IN TOKYO AND THE LEVEL (NOT AT THE MOMENT) IN NYC. EXPENSIVE BUILDS.

i'm of the opinion that the fact a bike not being built 100% to period, country or whatever doesn't detract from it's "value" at all. i don't think that people should be criticized for building, or wanting to build, a bike up in the spirit of a particular aesthetic. there's a significant investment in building up most any bike from scratch, regardless of how unique it appears.

I AGREE AND RIDE WHAT YOU WANT IT IS YOUR MONEY AND BIKE. i HAD MORE FULL ITALIAN BUILDS THAN KEIRIN BUILDS. FULL CAMPY, CINELLI, SAN MARCO REGAL ETC.

GOOD POST!

CEYA!

freewheel needs some new stickers!

i used to have the padded kashimax, it wasnt bad, but my butt likes my brooks. it was more comfortable than the regular kashimax's but not as comfy as nice selle, concor, etc. it also requires the nitto seatpost with the narrower rails, as the padded one only comes in 30mm (as far as i am aware)
