We're supposed to wake up to 1-3 inches, and within 24 hours, 1-2 feet. I thought I'd ride in the morning, and wing it after work.

yeah i called in today.

work was gonna be slow anyhow. and the studded tires i ordered arent in yet.

i felt bad calling in when theres nothing on the ground yet, but the afternoon forecast is pretty portentious.

Hello fellow Fort Collins commuters!

I also called in today. Just like you badhat ... I felt silly since there wasn't a lot going on this morning. Could have made it in. It is the getting home I worried about. Even if I went in I don't think I would have taken my bike and driving the old mini-van didn't excite me.

Also have tomorrow through the 26th off so figured I might as well make it a complete 7 days off. Looks like the snow has really picked up now. Don't think I'll regret staying home!

Hiya all, I was wondering how other bike commuters were holding up today. I rode the 2 miles into work this morning at 8am, and there was only an inch or so of snow on the Spring Creek path. My work closed at noon when it was really starting to come down. I went out to lunch with some co-workers and started heading home around 2pm.

I was forced to push my bike most of the way. The snow was light enough that I couldn't get started without spinning out, but deep enough it was a constant zig-zag just to stay up when I got going. I wonder how much better the knobbies on my mtn. bike would have helped over the inverted tread Vittorias I have on my commuter? It took me at least an hour to get home, now I'm just sitting back with a nice ale. Cheers!

I biked in, and it wasn't too bad. I also went to an Office Party luncheon. I carpooled with some other folks to Rio. We returned to work, and it was announced we were closing at 3 pm, and wouldn't reopen until 3 pm on Thursday. I left the bike at work, and got dropped off at Poudre High School, where I met my son. I drove the car home from there. I saw a cyclist on Elizabeth and Taft about 3 pm, and he was actually chugging along. I'll be home shoveling snow tomorrow. I already have 6 foot high piles all over my yard.

i stayed home and spent the morning eating and napping and posting and then stir crazy around noon and started shoveling my drive and sidewalk, then did all my neighbors, then did mine again, then did my neighbors again...

the beefiest bike i have right now is a my cross bike with some 38s, and i live on a cul de sac that NEVER gets groomed, so i doubt i'll ride tomorrow either. probably go running with the dog in the morning. i dont like running on pavement but its fun on good deep snow.

NPR mentioned the storm this morning. :) It's sunny and 35 here in Vermont. Quit hogging all our snow!

OilFH,
I believe this is the same storm that took down most of WA...it might be good to have an extra candle and maybe a weeks worth of canned food! Hope you fare better than I did..

We need it. Well, maybe not us but our mountains do.
You can have it but I think you may need a few semis. I expect you to have all of it removed by noon. :p
