My New Years resolution for 2007 is to not use credit cards (unless an emergency), debit card only. I have already gotten off to a good start, having not used them for over four months.
Also, I have just set a goal to do a century a month :)
New Years resolutions are for bads, learn to set goals instead of pretending like you do on new years

Gretzky, debit cards are bad. You are too vulnerable. Basically, if your card is compromised, BANG out of the account the money comes and then you have the responsibility to work with the card company to get your account restored. The stories I have heard where that has happened, the card company did get the money in the account within 24 hours of contact but why go through that? With a credit card, it is the issuing card company's money until it is resolved, you just pay for your purchases.
Additional disadvantages of debit cards are fees and lack of "points" programs that credit cards offer.
I think your discipline should come from paying the account in its entirety each month.
Just my opinion.

Why don't you pay mine each month in its entirety! ;) But I'm with you - I use my debit card way too much. It's like my cash now (I almost never carry bills anymore).

Hey, I spent over $40,000 in credit card charges in 2006. I really need to watch my spending :D , But, zero interest changes and zero credit card fees. Lots of air miles though!!
I do charge most things I can, but the point I was trying to make, you are safer if it is on a credit card vs. a debit card.

Hi Thomson :)
By debit card, I mean spend my money. I have been very good at using cash for almost everything, but in the event that I make a transaction that requires a CC, I use my debit card. I see your point about being vulnerable, and not having rewards, and fee's etc. But my goal is to pay off the credit cards, and not use them at all.
I figure if I can do that for a year, I should be able to pay most of them off :)

My new year's resolution is to get a babysitter for the little one and join you guys for a ride at least once this year.

I plan to do the Wildflower and the Bear, and I'm sure that there will be other BFers there, but I assume that a "real" organized ride doesn't count!
