General Cycling Discussion - question for Yakima roof rack

I hope this is the place to post. I am a broke college student who thought he made the deal of the lifetime on some Yakima 1c SST towers w/y6 clips.. well, I have a 1991 honda civic wagon that was given to me and these mounts don't fit with the current clips. Is it a good idea to bend the clips so they would fit or should I say "screw you food" for the next couple of weeks and opt to get the 'recommended' Q Towers? I have everything else but the right towers apparently. I have heard around that they will fit pre 1994 vehicles, I went to bikepro.com to check the stats and I saw that this rack fit the older version of my car but I guess it doesn't fit mine. Please! any help is appreciated, including, if I am totally screwed any Q towers/Q6 clips that are for sale.. sigh.. I wanted to go riding somewhere cool tomorrow....

Go with Q Towers if you want a rack that you can hang on to for a while and use with different vehicles in the future. It's going to be harder and harder to find any selection of SST parts.

But if you just want to get the rack you have in working order, you could check eBay. I bought a used Yakima rack on eBay. If you can figure out what y-clips will fit your car...maybe someone is/will be selling some on eBay.

Your LBS might even be worth a shot. About a year ago I saw a load of old SST clips, etc on clearance at a local LBS.

yeah, the Y clips that are 'supposed to fit' do not... they are actually meant for the older version of my car. looks like I have to rake up $225 or so for Q6 clips, Q towers and a 6 pack of sks locks (I have to lock up my fairing as well ;P)

I'm considering buying a Yakima Rack (Q-towres, clips and bars), but buying the 'peripherals' on eBay. Does every attachment fit every bar??? That's all I need to know.

every yakima peripheral does fit the round yakima bar and there are clips provided with some that you can also use with thule square mounts.
