View Full Version : Thursday Conejo Valley Ride
Urbanknight and I will be doing our own tour of the Conejo Valley tomorrow. Basically, your typical Hidden Valley loop, roughly 30 miles or so. We are meeting at Agoura Cycles at 10:45.
Come on down and join us! We are leaving late enough to avoid the morning frost, we hope! It's a no-drop enjoy-the-day ride.
Post up here if you can come so we know to expect you. I'll be on a Giant OCR2, grey and silver.

I'll be on the "Italian-American" Bianchi in a red wind shell. Weather.com says low 60s tomorrow, which should be just right to break a little sweat up Potrero.

Nice riding with you, Sheldon. I took the bike into the shop after the ride to see if James could do better on the derailleur, and it turns out the shifter needs to be rebuilt (thank God for Campy). Not sure if that's because the previous owner of the bike didn't take good care of it, or if it got knocked around in my crash, but they'll rebuild it for $50 after Christmas.
Glad to hear they can fix that for you. It will save you some time and trouble and clean up that shifting. I'm bringing my bike in for a cable swap.
Good riding with you today! It was nice to get out there mid-week for a change, which is impossible during regular working hours. Maybe next time we'll get a bit more sunshine, although I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that we didn't completely freeze! I just got out of a nice hot shower!
Let's see if we can knock down another over the break. I'm not sure if I'm doing the shop ride Saturday as we are going to the Westside to take Vicki's grandmother out for lunch. Maybe I can do the first part.
The first part of the week we'll be out of town celebrating anniversary someplace.

I wish I could have ridden with you two instead of working ;)
Come hell or high water, were going to get Sheldon past that 3000 mark and then some !!!

It may take hell or high water....I'm dead now! Still just getting over a cold and I am so wiped out, just laid on the bed the rest of the afternoon.
Sorry you missed the ride. It started out sunny but by the time we got to Newbury Park from Hidden Valley, it was overcast and getting colder. Brrr.
I'm now just 70 miles shy of 3000, having ridden 65 miles this week already. If I can squeeze in one more between family obligations by Sunday, I'll be happy.

Oh I'm jealous. I would be taking my wife today since it's the last day on our season pass until next year, but I gave her my cold and she's not up to it, and it's HER favorite place. She studied imagineering, so the rides are even more fun when she points out hidden secrets. You're probably gone already, but anybody look backwards on the Pooh ride just before it exits back to the staging area.

So, do the two of you spend your time there looking for hidden mickeys? There are some great websites about these! (also Yesterland, which has all of the rides taken out of service)

She knows most of the hidden Mickey's already, although I did stump her when she couldn't recall the one on Small World. If any of you want to organize a group trip, we need 8-10 people so we can be an all adult crowd on the storybook ride and request the "adult version"
