Go look at C'dales website. The number of models they offer dramatically drops for 2002. Unless they haven't made all their 2002 models available yet. I am speaking of their MTB group.

Don't fret...This is the same thing they did last year, posting a few of the models early. They'll keep adding 2002 models until well in to 2002. (They actually had to print a new brochure this year to include mid-year additions to the model line, like the R1000si.)

Incidentally, I just took delivery of a 2002...the R4000si...Sweet Bike!

Sweet bike DBJ. How many miles have you put on your new bike?

Only have about 200 miles in on it...But it's amazing! I didn't realize just how much better a bike could be than my twelve-year old steel rig. No bottom bracket flex, suprisingly supple ride, corners and climbs like a dream and...Oh My!...what simply gorgeous cranks! I test rode the R3000si before I got this one, and you really can tell the difference on the cranks. It's funny, I never realized how much I'd adapted my body English to accomodate for the flex of my old bike...It kind of threw me off for the first hour or so on the new C'Dale!

Keep us informed and tell about some of your rides, dbj. Glad to hear of such a good new-bike experience.

I can't wait for the mags to review the new Scalpel designs. Those are sooooo cool. My next bike is going to be a Cannondale.

I'm disapointed in you. You just got a good Fisher bike and already you're talking about your next bike. I'll bet your Fisher bike is shedding a tear when you don't look, feeling unwanted.

Oh, well. :(

Servus!

I'm a bit surprised that the American mountain bike mags haven't done a write-up of the Scalpel. Not only has every German mag gotten a hold of one, but I can actually touch one at my LBS. And for a scant DM 12,000 I can ride it home! MMMMmmmmmmm, carbon/titanium Lefty, Magura Martas....

Needless to say, the Scalpel is truly a marvel of technology! One that I would be proud to ride upon. Despite being made in America...;) :p

NO! NO! NO! My Fisher is here looking at the bikes with me actually. And I give spiffy his attention, anytime he is not going to be with me I read him a story, and put him to sleep.

Tell Spiffy if she(he?) wants a friend, don't associate with the Scapel 800. It would be a bad influence on her (him?) It's too fat and gets mean and nasty while climbing. The 1000 has a much better personality and a respect for others.

Quick ? If Cannondale is marketing the Scapel as a race oriented SHORT travel bike, then why does the "Team Replica" come with a LONG travel "Lefty"???? HMMMMMMM:confused:

Have you ridden a Scalpel? The 1000 is the one I want.

Cannondale makes some great frames but their mountain bikes are tempermental. Knowing C-dales history of putting out bikes before being thoroughly tested I wouldn't be buying the first year model of the scalpel.

Once all the kinks have been taken care of it should be a great bike. For the price, it better be.
