"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - What would you call a 'rolling' course?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm programming a few 50 mile courses on my RealAxiom trainer system for use this winter. My training calls for rides on "rolling" courses. I can program any variety of grades and distances (ex 5 miles at 3%, 0.25 miles at 10%, etc).
What grades and distances would you consider "rolling"? Remember, I live in corn country Ohio (pretty flat).
Thanks
For me, a rolling course is anything from about 25-75 feet of climbing per mile, obviously consisting of small ups and downs throughout.

mostly shorter hills of about 1/4 to 1/2 mile long and grades of 4-7%. but that's just what comes to my mind.

I use 6% as the cutoff, but 1/4 to 1/2 mile long is about right.

I'd say right in the middle of that. 50ft of climb per mile with climbs no longer than a mile or so is what I'd call rolling. Standard deviation of 25ft :)

This sounds about right then. The course I did this morning had some 2%-5% grades from 0.25 miles to 1.0 mile in length.
