can someone post the specific spanner (park, otherwise; pic and/or part #) to get to tighten the lock ring on a 2006 bianchi pista? i have one of the old park ones - looks like tweezers covered in the park-blue vinyl, but i can't get enough leverage with them as they are very flexy.

Screwdriver or a cold chisel and a hammer work surprisingly well and if done carefully, doesn't do any damage..

Those are probably a pin spanner... what you need looks like a hook. Or, just a screwdriver and a hammer.

Quite so. Generally, pin spanners are only used to tighten the adjustable cup, if they're used at all, not the lockring. They're despicable little tools, anyway. Getchaself one of those BB/cog lockring tools. Or be a brutish hooligan and use a hammer and chisel.

i tried the bb/lock ring tool (shimano) my friend had, but it was too small to get over the bianchi lockring. remembering that, i didn't want to buy the wrong thing. wanted specifics if anyone knows it. but yeah, you both are right. and the one i have is totally not getting it done.

screwdriver and hammer is last resort.

i have some park tool that's got a one-tooth "lockring spanner" on one end, and some wacky 3-tooth spanner on the other end. the one-tooth end sucks, but the 3-tooth end works real well. doesn't slip off. let me see if i can find a picture.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. I think I picked up
mine from REI for $10 or something. Totally worth it,
as it'll give you leverage you could never hope to achieve
with a screwdriver and a hammer.

Make sure to watch all three teeth as you're using the HCW5. I was playing around with my HCW5 on a wrecked frame (to make sure I was getting it right), and noticed that it does occassionally slip and can dig into your frame pretty well if you're sloppy... especially the tooth that's out of view. Thankfully I tried it out on my scrap first.
