I posted this in another forum sight with no help or responses. Hopefully someone here can help.

I have a black and white schwinn mesinger seat from the 1960's.

I need to take it apart to clean and repaint the steel frame.

First I need to know how does the seat come apart with out ruining any of it?

There is only one hex shaped nut that I can see and when I try to loosen it, it does loosen but does not want to come completely off.

So how is it supposed to come apart?

Second, what is the best way to clean the vinyl? Its just dusty and dirty.

A product like Armorall?

Thanks.

I thin Armorall will work on the vinyl.
I have no clue as to how to take it apart.
However if you contact Firstflight bikes
they may be able to help (They also have
mesinger seats for sale).
find them at:
First Flight (http://www.firstflightbikes.com/default.htm)
Hope this helps,
Marty

It isn't worth taking the seat apart.

Mask around the seat with masking tape and spray rust with rust converter. Then, spray paint.
