Rooms are hard to come by as well.

I booked at the Fireside In Motel in Morro Bay (31 miles from start).

I found nothing closer/or in my price range:>

I signed up around 1:30am and figured I'd get in nice and early. I didn't realize it'd be 40% sold at that point!

How did you go about looking? Is it recommended that we book lodgings now?

I checked on expedia, there are lots of places in San Luis Obispo in the 100-200 range, and a couple in the sub 100 range that I imagine will book quickly. Atascadero is closer, but I didn't see anything available.

Yes find lodging asap. Between Wildflower, the College and other events (most notably the Harley Ride about the same time) hotels are few and far between in Santa Maria, SLO, Pismo, Atascadero and Paso. I would definitely book now to get a better price. The hotels are known to jack them up if there is an event at the College. Check Expedia for deals. I would suggest you all coordinate where you want to stay. You might be able to work out a deal with the hotel if you have 10 rooms or more. I've already booked my rooms.

I got a room at the beautiful and scenic 0 star San Luis Obispo Downtown Travel Lodge for $85 including taxes etc. It's rated a grand 2 out of 5 in user reviews on some hotel review site.

It's just off the 101, so it'll be easy to get to on Friday and get out of on Saturday morning.

When I did the Wildflower a couple of years ago, I stayed at the Motel 6 in Atascadero, rooms are less than $60 per night and they still have rooms available. Just go to Motel 6 website. After all you just need a place to sleep, and Atascadero is the closet community to where the ride starts.

+1 - that is EXACTLY where I stayed too! Now, I just have to hope for a spot or else I'll be a bandit but not eat any food at the rest stops.

By the way, when I did this last year, I rode up with a group of guys (Colavita - the nicest too), and we just got rooms the night of. Mind you, we went to two different M6's before we got rooms, but we found them - and it took us about 25 minutes to get to the start line in the morning.

Do people usually leave Saturday night or Sunday?

Well, I'm both poor and cheap (but I think one is an outcome of the other, yes?) so I rarely spring for two nights. However, in the case of double centuries, I will. On this ride, I'll head home after the Post-ride meal.

Even better, and easy to switch, thanks!

I have to head home that night. My organized ride schedule is stacking up with Palm Springs, Solvang, and this. I'm staying Saturday at Palm Springs and Solvang and I'm going to start running low on friends willing to dog sit if I pull another full weekend.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have booked one night in Atascadero Motel 6 for Fri the 27th. Since I live in San Diego though, I don't think I want to make an extra long day and drive all the way back Saturday night. So I think I will find another place to visit in the area for Sunday and stay there Saturday night.

Any suggestions?

Morro Bay. Room on the beach, nice recovery ride on Sunday morning. I plan on doing the same, Friday at Motel 6 and Sat in MB.

I've typically done this ride with my Club and we left Sunday after a morning ride (Corbett Canyon). This time I'm extending my stay through Tuesday in order to do some rides out of Paso I've been wanting to do for awhile. Depends on your drive. Lots of people go home after the ride on saturday. It's nice to spend the evening in SLO, have a nice dinner, walk around town and then head out on Sunday after having a great breakfast at the Big Sky Restaurant.

If you plan on booking at Motel 6 in A do it fast - it's basically the ride hotel. There is also a Motel 6 in Paso.

I'm booked at the M6 for the 27th. If any girls have a hard time finding a room, I'm willing to share.

Try Paso Robles. It is not much farther past Atascadero and a road is there from Paso Robles directly to Creston for the ride. The 6 Motel is about $60 USD.

So very sorry BCIpam, you must have many friends to need so many rooms.:D Maybe everyone ride to Creston for start together.
