BEST RIDE IN CALIFORNIA!!! If interested you must sign up January 8. Signups close out early!

San Luis Obispo Bicycle Club
Wildflower 2007 Ride - Saturday, April 28
Registration will open at midnight on the morning of January 8, 2007
Get the 2007 Wildflower Jersey as a memento of your experience!
Cruise through the green hills and secluded valleys of northeastern San Luis Obispo County. See California the way it was during the mission days. There are three route options: 50, 75 and 100-miles in length. All three routes begin in Creston and then weave through the roads east of Templeton before stopping for lunch at the northern outpost of Shandon. Return to Creston over rolling foothills facing a delightfully cooling afternoon breeze. Adventurous centurions can continue south on challenging and desolate mountain roads, finally completing a loop back to Creston and a well-deserved barbecue dinner. Come join us and see why we're considered the best ride in California. The Wildflower registration fee is only $45.00! There is no day-of-ride registration. Moreover, the ride is popular and sells-out quickly. Register early to assure yourself a place.
The SLOBC uses the funds from its rides to sponsor scholarships for the CalPoly Wheelmen and Shandon High School, support programs at Creston Elementary, contribute to the maintenance of mountain biking trails, support bicycle advocacy

This is a great ride that I may sign up for. By the way, I got in easily last year (after the deadline and it was sold out) as there are always folks who sign up and then resell their spot closer to the date.

Yes, actually. ;) Of course, I rode it with the core members of the Colavita Simi Regional Team (the nicest guys and incredible riders). Their company and comaraderie just made it all the better (I love riding with men) - but the ride itself is well supported and if the season stays constant, the wildflowers will be blooming!

Ok, im considering this one now, too. Although it is usually a prime time for mt biking here in the moountians, it sounds like a ride I dont want to miss. Im sure several of the so-cal folks will be there, and this seems like a half way ppoint.

I've done this ride in the past and it is a great ride, got to ride it with Homey, a member of the Cyclonauts & the bike journal forum, he was also a member of one of the RAAM teams this past year.
Between my double centuries and my KOM rides this spring I just won't have a chance for this ride. If you don't have a long distance ride for April this is a great ride.
A great ride for your April entry into the Century-A-Month challenge.

Exactly my thinking.:D
I do this ride every year, it's a great ride. It's usually cold in the morning, but warms up nice in the afternoon. Well supported, great food and beautiful back country roads with very little traffic. I'm doing the Central Coast Double two weeks later and use this ride as a training ride.

Hopefully after January 8th we will see who got signed up and are going and maybe we can plan a dinner Saturday night. Friday night I usually go out and do the Spagetti dinner (which is pretty good) and get my number and stuff. Means Saturday I can just roll up get ready and ride. Normally I stay in San Luis Obispo but in the past have stayed in Paso Robles and Atascadero. You all let me know if you need hotel recommendations. If you stay in SLO there is an awesome ride you can do for Sunday by joining the BCI group. They do Corbett Canyon. Friday they usually do Avila Beach. My friend and I have talked about doing a long weekend - maybe Thurs., Friday and stay through Monday and do some other rides in the area, maybe even part of the Lighthouse route. I plan on doing the 75 miler, not the century. Been there done that on that century - too hard for me!!!

OK to decide after Stagecoach but you will be buying someone else's ticket cause the ride will sell out Monday (1/8). Just an FYI for everyone.
If you can plan the last minute thing - tickets are usually available a couple of days before cause folks can't go.

How many riders do they accept? I may not do the full 100 unless I dont have my April century. If that's the case, game on yo.

The ride I think is limited to 1500 - the website will say.
My suggestion, the ride fee is $45. Buy a placement even if you are iffy - trust me - selling a Wildflower ticket is not a problem. You won't lose your money!
BTW having done the 50, 75 and 100 - my favorite is the 75. It has the hardest climbs and best scenary and is still a challenge. Many people, especially the veterans, never do the full 100, they cut off the last loop so do around 80 instead. Unless for some reason you have to do a century - stick with the 75. You will be rewarded with a great ride and still have the energy to party after. Plan on having a great chicken dinner and mingling with other folks at the finish.
BTW the 50 is also nice. Regardless this is a hilly ride - each route has its challenges!

Dude, I think "girls" sounds sexist. I think they prefer to be called, "babes" (or maybe "chicks").
