I'm just wasting time here (only because I can't get on the road yet ...). It has occurred to me, that depending on what part of the country you are in, you will most likely see a different distribution of bikes on the road.

For example, I live in northern california, but do visit family in southern california quite often. I have noticed that in northern california, I see plenty of Calfees, and in southern california, I see plenty of Giant OCR's and a good number of Serottas.

It would be interesting to see what the distribution is of various bikes, based on geography. But then again, part of it may depend on racing team loyalties, and whether or not your ride for recreation, or for racing!!!

When I go to a planned ride event I see mostly Treks. Out on the road though, I see alot of Specialized. Not sure if they just catch my eye or if they have a good base here in Indiana.

You see mostly what the local shop sells. I see a lot of Blue, Trek, and Orbea around here cause that's what the local shop sells.

At organized events, I'd say I mostly see the big boys, Trek and Giant

I see Ritchey Road Logic more than anything else. That's what's between my knees when I look down. :D

Around here, for the bikes that I notice, I see a lot of Treks and Cervelos, but I don't really pay much attention. I'm impressed by riders, not bikes.

I did recently spend some quality time wheelsucking a local elite team that's on Orcas... that was hard to miss...

Mine ... because I'm often the only one out there!

(Occasionally I see a Canadian Tire or Walmart mtn bike if I happen to spot someone commuting to work.)

However, as it happens, mine is a very popular Canadian bicycle anyway so when I have cycled in groups, this brand is probably the most common: Marinoni

Ok, it looks like Trek dominates out there ... I guess that's obvious. Lot of Madones out there. Was hoping there would be more of the little guys, like Orbea, Serotta, Litespeed, etc ...

It seems to be Cannondale country here in the northeast.

The big player around here seems to be Trek. Of course, the biggest LBS around is a Trek pusher.

Orbea and Litespeed are little? I wonder how the independent builders think about that statement?

Trek dominates our area as well. The Lance factor will be around long past his retirement.

Huffy, Roadmaster, or whatever name Pacific puts on their bikes are far and away the most common brand I see on the road.

I saw a ton of litespeeds at the solvang ride in november, before that I hadn't seen any.

In my area there is a great mix of machines. Kinda cool if you ask me.

Up here in the NorCal mountains it's Trek and Specialized mostly, but I see quite a few Jamis because one of the local shops sells them. There's a new shop around that carries Felt. I wonder if I'll be seeing more of them when the snow clears.

Around here (Panama City, Panama), I see lots of Giants,Treks, Cannondales, and lately Orbeas are finding their way in the market. Of course, you see a couple of Bianchis, Pinnarelos, Looks (and the like) here and there, but not too many. Also, Diamond Backs are in the scene.

Trek, Klien, and Lemond, as the only LBS in town is a Trek dealer. As Beaufort is a military town (2 USMC bases), there is some more variety, usually Specialized, Giant, Cannondale, and Bianchi. We do see some different brands that may not be available in the USA, and the occasional Dunlop valve.

In terms of road bikes, I see quite a nice variety. Lots of treks and specialized. But a nice deal of colnagos in central park though. A good amount of after year 2000 lemonds, but few before that.

I see more Bianchis here than most of you. Almost all the LBSs around here sell them, though. Still, the main bike is probably Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, Giant, Bianchi. Bianchi may be higher on that list than I put it, though.
