Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

i just got a jamis dakar frame from a friend of mine and i'm not sure what size the seat tube is. does anybody know what size it is? also, what does this frame ride like? i'm new to mountain biking (been racing bmx for almost 10 years and riding road for a few years) and am looking for any info/experiences on this bike. thanks
Whelp...mine takes a 27.2 seatpost. (I'm assuming that's what you needed. I don't know the external diameter)
Mine is an XLT and it rides like a dream. The Jamis is a little heavy but it is tough. Their XC frames can handle All Mountain. Their All Mountain frames can handle a little DH/FR. They're pretty dang tough.
The suspension itself works very well. Mine feels like at least 5". (some 5" frames don't feel like 5")
You have a good project there. Enjoy it.
