i have no idea where those places are that they ride to. from what i hear, you need to be in good shape otherwise you're dropped like a sack of potatos. would suck to have to figure out how to get back home again.

75+ riders! i'm not planning on getting droped. anyway, along the way they split into groups and there is a shorter (30 miles) and longer (50 mile) route. i'm going this saturday from brooklyn ( extra 50 miles both ways:eek: ) around 7:30am.
edit. didnt make it.crank arm unscrewed on manhattan bridge. will go again next week.

It's not that bad of a ride. The Gimbles ride has three groups that start en masse, but peel off in the middle of the A-group loop (shortest of three). If you've been riding and have familiarity with group rides in general, it's B-group is pretty moderate in terms of intensity. And as is typically of most rides, the first 45 minutes of the ride is slowed by riders flab-gabbing. There are typically 3 "sprints" in the ride. And yes, if you get dropped, you'll be on your own. Just don't take a pull until you can get a feel for the group.

The people are generally friendly and I have yet to see a pile-up (knock on wood).

Cheers

beautiful weather.150+ riders showed up jan.07(?) it was my first ride. apparently everyone was still in base training so I took second place.

How do you take second place in a group ride?
