So.... It seems from searching everyone just pounds them out with a screwdriver but... what is the "correct" way to remove and install an american BB?

That works, I use an old seatpost and tap all the way around the BB cup. Next time you install it grease the outside of the cups lightly so they don't rust. And they will come out easier as well.

No one cares what you use... I imagine he already did this because Beerman gave him a good way to do it.
