General Cycling Discussion - Whats Your LAH?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I figure if golfers can do it, why can't we. My new concept is of a Lance Armstrong Handicap (LAH). Your LAH is how may conventional red clay bricks Lance would have to carry in his backpack in order for you to stay in sight of him on a ride. I figure mine at about 20 in the pack and a few more on a BoB trailer.
For me, it would be however many bricks it would take to make Lance fall off of his bike and not allow him to get back on. Then, I too may have a chance.

For me we're talking snail proportions. (ie He carries his house with him) and has to use a 56x11 gear up The Tourmalet.
The only way I would ever keep up with Lance is if I was riding the back seat of a tandem, and he was on the front! Now THAT would be a handicap! The rest of you could probably pass him then!
All of those guys in the TdF are really amazing. I don't get to see very much of the race, but when I do, I sure enjoy it!
'bout 50 for me, plus one mounted on his seat post in lieu of his usual saddle.

Just one brick, bounced right off the top of his head. ;)
Just kidding. Lance is way out of everyone's league, I think, not to mention his comeback from cancer!
Way to go, Mr. Armstrong--win another for us!
I could kick Lance's *** even if he had no bricks.....:D .....Just kidding.

What are you people talking about, did you see my other thread? I DID beat Lance and it was EASY!!! ;)
Actually being serious for a second (yes, I am actually capable of that), the guy is seriously awesome. I mean, nobody else could get near him in the mountains this year. You almost feel sorry for Jan Ullrich, because without Lance, he'd win easily.
Chris
you know, i was reading down through the posts in this thread, and i began to think that it would be funny to call you guys all wimps and whussies and tell you that it would be me who would need the bricks in his backpack to let Senor Armstrong keep up with me, much less pass me. i mean, you don't want to damage the ego of a man like that, you know? so fragile and soft.
...but, i was beat to the punch by my smart-alek brethren fubar and Chris L. and that rules. i have been a smart-alek since i learned the meaning of the word "sarcasm" and hope to do so until i pass on.
smart-aleks rule (until i get made fun of...)!!!

As long as I had some rebar, cement, and those damn bricks, I'd build The Wall (btw, that had some "echo" to it when you read that word) to stop Lance in his tracks. :D
Besides, I think I beat Lance in a previous life as the "Bionic Woman". Complete with sound effects, too! ;)

I'd build a wall and paint a tunnel through it, Wile E. Coyote style.

The man is amazing, actually they are all amazing. this is the first sport that I can sit back and actually appreciate the strength and endurance of these athletes. but lance is by far amazing, and I've been very impressed by his sportsmanship - especially when he waited for Ulrich after his tumble. He could have taken that opportunity to put more time between him and ulrich, instead he opted to keep the competition even.
Just when I think I'm really improving as a rider, I see what speeds they are averaging on an unrated hill, and I weep because I can't hit those speeds on the flats with a tail wind - so ..... no bricks for me, I don't even bother. It's just not fun, it's not funny (for all you Howard stern fans - use your Billy Crystal voice)!

Techno-warrior, you have defeated Lance already with only one half of your brain (the female half...) ;)

He will have to carry me, for both of us to arrive at the finished line together:D :D
I dunno. I think just trading bikes would do it for me. ;)

Lance probably logs on every evening from France, and reads our posts about him.

I don't think Lance, still has the time to log on to our website, and if he did then I would say Welcome Lance to our Bikeforum website and may you have more Tour de France wins and I am rooting for you:beer:

Ok, I'm going to say it...
Lance puts his pants on just like all of us: one leg at a time (and what legs!)
