Oh...and it was TOTALLY my fault, just in case anyone tries to claim responsibility. ;) :p
I would be the culprit :( We were coming up on where our stopping point was, and Brandy said to "turn here". Seeing the turn coming up quickly, I grabbed the brake's, and initiated the turn. Brandy caught my rear tire, and went down :( As it turns out, Brandy was referring to the next turn. :( Sorry again Brandy, I do feel really bad, and I am glad you are ok.
Other than the accident, we had a great ride! It was great to finally meet Luwin, and also great to finally get to ride with you guys! Perfect weather, perfect company, and with the one exception, an awesome day!
Thanks for setting up the ride Brandy, and thanks to Voltman, and Luwin for making it out!
Here is the ride: be sure to cut and paste the whole link if it does not come up.

Brandy went down right in front me of - trying to take me and Voltman out after her, but thanks to our quick reflexes we went wide left to avoid the carnage. ;)
On a more serious note, she did go down right in front of me, and it looked like a twisted pretzel - her body going left, bike going right, front wheel sticking up. Besides a twisted saddle and right brifter (both aligned back now) and a scratch on the new Jett saddle, bike is looking good. I won't go too much into detail about the bodily injuries as that should be left to the one that gets the honor of describing her battle scars. But luckily, she/bike wasn't hurt, and we were able to get some good jovial laughs out of it. As were the patrons of Diedrich's that probably witnessed the entire thing . . . :D
I would be the culprit :(
It wasn't your fault...I accept full responsibility! Like a typical woman, I said one thing when I meant another. :p

It was her bike's way of telling her that she needs a new groupset.
Coincidentally, my bike was also telling Voltaire that he needs a whole new bike.

Ahhh yes...the patrons at Deidrich's had a wonderful view of my crash and that was made apparent as they all stared at me as I walked in. :o :o I do believe that the highlight of the experience was the homeless man asking me if I needed mouth-to-mouth.

best wishes for a speedy recovery, brandy. I've used TJ's frozen berries numerous times on my knees (usually post-basketball), I swear by 'em (and the peas)

Brandy,
I hope you will heal quickly. Glad to hear the bike is okay.
It's funny as cyclist we all know that we will heal quickly. "Is my bike okay?" is usually are first thought and what we worry about the most. Glad to hear the bike is okay and that you were not seriously hurt.

Hi B, just logged back on (I was shaking from withdrawal!). You are tough, woman! I'm glad you're okay but bruisers are not fun (especially the elbow!). I almost did the same thing at the Burrito in San Diego traffic! Only it was Jason in front of me, and he was trying to maneuver safely to the right. Accidents are bound to happen if we ride long enough, unfortunately. :(
Brandy, I just heard about this today. Heal quick.

Me too. Get well. I guess you're a bona fide cyclist now. :p
We need damage and injury photos please...
How did I know you'd ask George? I'm changing the bandage on the road rash, so I snapped a couple...

In the immortal words of Austin Powers... 'Yeah Baby!'
Heal up! :)
Thanks everyone...oh...I have a request for the cycling gods. Next time I'm destined for road rash, I would prefer that it's not on a place that bends! Road rash on the elbow sucks! :p

I think you should just stop whining and moaning about a little scratch and just get on with riding your bike...geeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
sook.
Ass.
Brandy,
I hope you get well soon. I think that the rash should heal pretty quickly (neosporin) but your elbow will probably be stiff for a while.
Jim
Brandy,
Looks, uh, well, ya know....
Hope you heal quickly!

There are two types of cyclists: those who have crashed, and those who will :D
Hope it heals up quickly and you are back on the road soon!

HEY! That wasn't whining...it was a simple request. Notice that I said "next time I'm destined for..." and not "I never want road rash again!" :p ;) :roflmao:
I know it hurts, but scrub that wound out real well and cover it with Iodine, there is a lot of crap on the asphalt and some road rash can take a long time to heal. Sorry to hear about your crash and hope you heal up quickly and without to much discomfort.
Hi Brandy,
Unfortunately, there are a lot of cycling lessons that end with hitting the pavement. :(
I'd show you some of my scars but that's TMI. ;)
The injuries just help prove to your kids that you're tougher than they. :D Heal quickly.

Thanks Ralph. I cleaned it really well, though there wasn't much debris since it was through my jacket and arm warmers. I'm using these J&J Advanced Healing bandages, the idea is to seal in the fluids and not let it scab over...seems like that's the premise that was recommended on most sites that I googled.

Ah yes...lesson learned. She who is behind goes down. :p

Yeah, sometimes there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why some heal ok and some don't. I've got a small one on my shoulder that weeped for 6 weeks and would NOT heal while the rest of the rash healed right up. That'll teach me to look at attractive runners on the SART from now on.
Is that elbow going to keep you up at night? Also is that a bruise on that elbow also, or a shadow, if it's a bruise then that's gotta hurt. That is the worst part sometimes, the waking up when rolling over on it or brushing across it in your sleep.

That's a bruise! It's also really swollen and yes...last night was hard. It seemed to hurt more today than the last two days, so I'm crossing my fingers that it only gets better from here. The kids keep bumping it and picking things up, mopping (you can all STOP LAUGHING...yes, I actually do housework...sometimes ;) ) and driving bother it. :(

No laughing, it hurts. I don't do anything but sit in front of a computer all day and what did I break...my pelvic bone, right where I sit. I love my bike and I love riding, but I HATE pain. And yes, I'm a guy so I'm a baby about it.
