Dogs:

Mindy
Brandy (I love the song)
Sable (she's black)
Suzi (she just looks like a Suzi)

Cats:

DC (damn cat, he was my first cat and as a kitten he loved to hide, then jump out and attack your feet so he got called his name a lot)
Harley
Davy (short for Davidson of course)
Willie

Mindy, Brandy, DC, and Davy have gone and are waiting for me. Sable is an 18 year old standard poodle which is very old for them. She's still pretty healthy but it can't be too long before she goes to wait with the others. That's going to be REALLY hard.

My best friend growing up wanted a dog. His father would not let he or his sisters have a pet. Their solution, deny the existence of the dog. Hence their animal became known as "What Dog".

I had a German Shepard named Pax, a "Yorkie-poo" (Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle mix that was adorable) named Toby, a white chow named SugarBear, a Dalmation named Purdy, and a West Highland Terrier named Rowdy (aptly named). In between those, there have been many others, but those were the memorable dogs I have had in my life. Now I have no pets at all, and I like it that way!

When I was around 10 years old, I was really pushing my parents hard for a motorcycle. We lived in the country and lots of kids had them. One day Dad shows up with a Manchester Terrier and tells my brother and I her name is Honda and that was as close to a motorcyle as we were gonna get.

BJ -- Our first dog, an incredimutt from the SPCA, named before we got him. We figured he had chocolate lab, pointer, and whippet in him, among others. He was FAST -- once, while in his second hour of running full tilt on the beach in Vancouver, a British man approached my mother and asked if he could buy BJ to take back to the UK to race.

Pancho -- Our current dog, a maltipoo (maltese poodle). We got him when we were moving to Tokyo, since it would have been cruel to take BJ there with us (we gave him to friends in the BC interior with a farm where he could run all day). Pancho's going on 15 years now, but people still think he's a puppy. We also sometimes call him "the cat". Pancho used to try to chase the neighbour's cat, but the chases would always end up with the cat chasing Pancho.

How about a dog missing a leg, named "Tripod" or "Tripawed"

When I was a kid, we had a neighbor with a Siberian Husky named Tammy who got out one day and crossed the path of the alcoholic gun owner up the street. Ever after, she was known as Tripod Tammy. We were all extremely upset, but 'ole T.T. adjusted to life as a retired sled dog just fine.

In order (I don't count the fish I had):

Hamsters:
Valentino
Hairy (was hairy ass, but my mom kept getting pissed about it....seriously, that hamseters ass looked like two giant hairballs that shifted with every movement)

Rabbit: Bugsy

Frog: Michigan M (obvious Loony toons ripoff)

Cocker Spaniel: Chester (aka "Chester the Molester" due to his habits of humping any bare leg in sight)

Anole (small lizard, often mistakingly called a chameleon since ti does change colors): Whodini (since if there was a way to get out of the terrarium, he could find it)

Duck: Woody (wood duck hatchling I saved from a cat...most awesome pet I ever had...everyone who saw him thought he was the coolest thing ever...be careful if you are ticklish, he will get ya!)

Catnip (she's getting old - 11 or 12 now)

You'd be surprised... My sister's boyfriend's family has a cat that's at least 26. The cat is old and miserable, but refuses to die, and is not actually unhealthy or in pain enough to warrant being put down. There is some speculation that she is the spawn of the devil and continues to live out of spite.

Our bengal cats: Bhajan and Shardul :)

My first dog's name was Toby, second dog was Charly.

First cat was Husky, next came Rahula and Maya.

I had a hedgehog named Rozelle and countless parakeets that I can't remember the names of.

My grandmother's toy Yorkie is like that....it's 18 years old right now. Pretty old for a toy breed at all.

I have no idea how some animals can live so long.....my Aunt's Yorkie was about 15 years old when it died (she should have removed the doggie door....thing kept going outside and chasing cars....finally he lost....he lived for about three weeks after that before the doctors had to put him down...).....that dog was the eval kineval of Yorkies....and somehow it still lived pretty long. Funniest and most messed up moment was when it pissed off the neighbor's great dane, and the dane threw him over the fence back into her yard. Poor guy had a limp for the rest of his life from that though :(

When I was growing up we had cats named Bonnie and Clyde, as well as a Stanley and Ollie. My dad currently has a rottweiler named Bisquit, although I've renamed him "Goober". He answers equally well to either.

Here at the Wahl household we have a no-tailed (amputee) cat named Bob, and a goofy little beagle-mutt named Casey. Birds are Weeble (the green cheek conure) and Picasso (painted conure) but we've not named the fish.

To clarify, the dog in my list (first dog I ever had as a kid) named "Freebee" was so named because we got her free from somebody trying to get rid of their puppies at the flea market. :)

I always swore the next dog I got, I would name Bonehead. Too bad Ammo & Solomon were names when I got them, otherwise one of them would have ended up Bonehead.

Some good names here! We are down to only two animals now:

Lightning (Golden Lab)

Eubi (Leopard Gecko, my namesake!)

We don't count Dirty Rat, the wild Opossum that uses out fence to get from one side of the neighborhod to the other.

When I was a kid:
my first cat was named Alice
several gerbils in succession over the years all named George
our neighbor's calico cat that adopted us was named Breakfast because he said she looked like what b-fast looks like when it's been vomited (goofball, that neighbor).

When I had a kid:
her cat's name was Hobbes-psycho cat that would attack her when she was learning to walk. He did not make the move from CA to NV, needless to say.
her dog is named Charlotte. The kid is on her own now, but I still have the dog.
