Hi

I need some help... I am in the process of restoring an early to mid 80's Nishiki. I'm having the decals done, but I need some help with the exact dimensions of them before they are printed. I couldn't do this myself, because the bike never had the original decals on it when I got it (also why I'm unsure as to what model and year it is).

If you have an early to mid-80's Nishiki, please if you could do me a favour, measure the decals height and width and post them here. I need it ASAP to give to the printers.

I need the Head badge "N" decal,
the down tube "Nishiki" decal,
the "Chrome-Moly" decal on the seat tube,
and the "Hand crafted by Kawamura" decal.

Please Please take 5 minutes and do this for me.

Thanks so much...Happy Holidays all!~

I have a 1985 Nishiki Tri-A. You may see pictures in the current classics gallery, #163, at www.cyclofiend.com. Here are the dimensions: the head tube badge is a square diamond shape measuring 3.25 cm x 3.25 cm. Superimposed over the square is a large "N" with Nishiki at the top and Bicycles at the bottom. The Nishiki name on the down tube is 2.60 cm high x 17.40 cm long. The chrome moly decal on the seat tube (on my bike its Tange #1) measures 3.90 cm wide x 2.90 cm high. The Handcrafted by Kawamura decal is 1.0 cm high x 4.5 cm long. I hope this will assist you.

You're welcome. By the way, I measured the headtube decal square (or diamond) diagonally, ie., from point to point.

Shoot, wish I had seen this thread sooner. I have an '85 Nishiki Prestige but I don't have internet access at home and I don't have the bike with me right now. Hah. Best of luck to you though, and try to post pictures when you get it finished! :)

almost all nishikis are kawamura (maybe all)... I just sold my competition, I was very sad to see it go. My international just got powder coasted and I don't care to redecal it... I have come to the realisation that all my bikes are now criterium type racers or full touring frames!!! I should have kept that letour for day rides... oh well...

Nishiki were made by a number of suppliers, but Kawamura is the most common. Most Kawamura frames have a decal stating so. If not, I can tell via the serial number.
