Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Question for people in or near Colorado.
Are there road races in the mountains (USCF?) that are held each year.
I am interested in taking a racing vacation and would love to race up a mountain to see what it's like.

Well the USCF race clanedar for 2007 is not updated as of today. Here http://www.usacycling.org/events/index.php?state=CO&race=Road&fyear=2006 is what they did in 2006 in Colorado. There is another racing orgainization in Colorado, the American Cycling Association. I have their proposed schedule in excel format. If you IM me I can email it to you if you want. ACA does indeed sanction "races in the mountains." This year it looks like five hill climbs (including the Bob Cook Memorial -one of the toughest and most famous in the states) and 6-7 hilly to mountainous road races. Their site is here http://www.americancycling.org/. If you are a USCF racer, you can race in an ACA race in your category on a "one day" license (if you don't want to join the ACA for the whole year). If you are not a USCF racer, you can still race ACA on a one day at Cat 4 level (or higher if you can provide a "resume"). If you want a lot of climbing in a beautiful setting come to Wyoming and race the Dead Dog Classic.

Be sure to register as soon as possible. It fills up pretty fast. Maybe I'll see you down there (as an official).
